Holding someone

Postby oddedd » Thu Nov 20, 2003 2:05 pm

I dont know if this can be done or has been done but here is a brainwave I Just had a second ago....

Holding...

What if, and action can be to hold somebody so they cannot move, a bit like dragging, but the opposite. Also this would open the way for searching etc...

what If you can only search or mug somebody if they are being held by somebody else.

Also an idea for how dragging, holding should work. What if with the current strength system you can only drag someone if your strength is at a higher level then thiers, and if somebody helps you it goes by your combined strength against the targets strength.

For example if a person with 20% strength and a person with 25% strength tried to hold someone with 50% strength they couldn't. Also some with 80% strength could hold someone with 50% strength.

Edited for thread title. -rklenseth

Yep, I like it too.

It could also be used to stop people like Matthew Hardy, by everyone working together to hold him down.

Earlier, when we were trying to stop Aeris, I wondered if the fact that she was being dragged somewhere would stop her from leaving town. It didn't. That's when I decided holding would be nice.

I think the way dragging is implemented is that until you have enough people to drag the target, then you are just planning and preparing yourself to drag them, so you're not really struggling with them at all, which is why she was able to walk away

What if a person couldn't do projects or anything like that whilst being held either, or did I say that :?

maybe I have the wrong word.

The wooden thing that you put the persons arms and head though, lock them in, and they are outside.

stocks, I guess you mean.

I thought you meant Stockade, which is a simple wooden fort, usually temporary I think.

Stocks and other restraining implements would be good

Iron shackles and wooden stocks would be awesome. If the person is shackled outside, they could do projects, pickup things, hit people, etc., but they couldn't go into buildings or leave town. If the person was shackled inside a building, you could have the door unlocked and they couldn't go anywhere. If they were in a stockade, I guess they wouldn't be able to do anything besides talk.
