Boat Stuff

Postby Cookie » Wed Feb 16, 2005 1:09 pm

I have two suggestions for boats:

1. Somebody mentioned cargo holds before, however I think a better option would be a cabin. This would be a seperate room on a boat, locable, where things can be stored and also, it is the only place where the controls can be operated. This way pasengers can't mess about and start docking the boat where you don't want to.

2. Vehicle transports. i.e. you can transport vheclies. Obviosly this would depend on the size of the boat and the vehicle in question.

It would be nice to be able to build certain rooms in side of ships.
Perhaps there could be movable containers, eg crates, that you could put gear in. Of course these would be able to be move onand off the ship.

EDIT: Oops... didn't fully read the first post :?

I like the idea of vehicle transports - maybe making vehicles 'draggable' items - so your could possibly move the smaller ones into buildings (to keep extra safe etc...) as well as onto other, larger vehicles...
Whoever you vote for.

I agree! Boat security is a good idea. Maybe (sm) (m) or (l) sized cabins, depending on the ship's size?

well on something like a galleon i think you should be able to build something like a cottage, or a shack. and maybe be able to go inside the boat, instead of just on it.

Ya there are usually captains quarters and on larger boats you can go below deck where the rest of the crew stayed.

I would like to be able to bring bikes onto larger boats.

In any of the boats larger then a long boat, I think you will find that they either have a cabin of some kind and/or they have a deck and hull which allows for storing of cargo ect.

I really like the idea of dragging bikes aboard. If you can drag a screaming, kicking person than you can sure as hell roll a bike onto a boat.

Not true.

Oh and yeah... you shoudl be able to fit ANYTHING onto a boat that will fit, weightwise. If you want to waste all of your boat's capacity building a hall on it, you should be able to. Meh, just my opinion.

I think Talapus was talking about RL, Nick...

Thank you for adding that on for me Surley. I was indeed talking about RL. And the reason I said it was because others have been saying that at least galleons should have it, but just about everything that classifies as a ship in my opinion should have an area that is seperate from the deck, or do as Nick suggested and let people build houses upon their ship. It would give a real use to aluminum because people would want to build shacks to leave themselves with the most room possible on their ships.

i like this idea. you could, like, make a longboat, and upgrade its space inside to make it a gallion, or a ship of the line!(sailing ships in all of the pirat movies.)once they make those.

Seriously. Building halls on a ship wouldn't be cool. Especially on longboats... They'd sink. I do think that the galleon should have at least bellow deck. All that hollow space not being used...
