Death Sensing
Just wondering if it's appropriate to be able to "sense" death, as people's name goes white when they die. I've used this game mechanic for IC information gathering, and I'm assuming that's allowed.

I guess it must be allowed - but I usually ignore - i.e: If someone dies when inside, and my charrie doens't see it, but sees that on the events list when they were outside, their name has gone white. My charrie is still surprised to find that they're dead...

This is a tricky question. As when a thief is known to be being chased, and in order to know if the guards have succeeded in subdueing them, you check to see if his name has gone white. I guess you'd see the body as well in this case. But if not, I don't think your character should know.
I think it best if the white name is not used as an indicator to your character. I remember this being discussed a long time ago, and I believe that was the general consensus. Though in some cases, when a lot of time has passed, or your char was not in the area, surprise, perhaps in the form of a question, would likely be acceptable rp.....which would be what you refer to as "sensing the death" i suppose. (personal opinion, not the PD's stance)

If you allow it, you allow the following delightful exploit...brought up many times before:
To send an instant signal, obtain someone you can kill at need. Transport them with your commander, and let the people who need the signal see them. Then for many subsequent days (as long as your events list can reach) the leader can execute the person and signal all his followers to action.
I can see ways to actually use this. But it strikes me as something that should not happen.

Yes, being able to name them would be nice. You always just see 'the body of a man in his thirties' or whatever, even though someone may have told you who they were, or there may be a note identifying them as 'beloved so-and-so' lying around in a tomb.
