Wooden Lock?

It would have to be a stone hammer, because I doubt sledgehammers would be available in any place that uses wooden locks. (Unless sledgehammers don't require metal; I've never checked but I'm sure they probably do)

The point is that the locks should be easy to break, both because they're easy to make, and because with no key they're sure to be abused by newspawns and criminals.

Lol, a battering ram is very low tech.

Used em durring the middle ages and such. I was just suggesting a small version, somewhat like the modern ones. Its not as if battering rams could advance, aside from what they are made of.

If we are making modern like ones, we could just have a dynamic hammer, like anti-terrorist teams carry. It would use alot of iron, steel and rubber, but have a door down in seconds. Otherwise a bigger ram is more cantrian.

EDIT: Just though of something, people on the inside of the building should be able to start a "door holding" project, that would counteract a project being done my people shouldering the door, and to a lesser extent the a battering ram(Extended project time)

Ergo, wooden locks exist.

I think this type of wooden lock has been explained often, but I am too lazy to check and I would like to (re)suggest it;

Why not allow a wooden bolt on the inside of a door. Anyone on the inside can lock or unlock it. Noone on the outside can; except break the lock with a crowbar. So you have little use for this lock if you own a building on your own, except to be able to lock people out when you're inside, but when you are not inside your building, it'll be unlocked and someone else can enter and lock the place.
