I was 150lbs at 6'0", and that was still very skinny-looking.

Course, now I'm 6'4" and hovering between 180-200lbs. Still on the skinny side, but healthy

well, depends on what that 150 lbs consists of. I'm carrying a little more fat than I'd like to, fat weighs less than lean mass, and bulks you out more. A person with a leaner physique could easily be thiner yet heavier.

I was just quoting Body Mass Index tables. I agree that you can ignore those tables and still be healthy (if that's what you were saying).

oops, going a bit OT here.

I think it'd be nice to have recent stats posted again like Jos did a while back

Oh, yes of course.

If it's mostly fat, that's not healthy.

Yes, I was grotesquely thin then - a true twig boy. A truly funny sight padded up for football practice.

I am much closer to average now - 6'3" and about 180 lbs. I'm about to go make a run to White Castle that should help boost that though. :D

American Football pfft, theres enough pading isn't there.

I played youth county standard rugby back when i was 14. But I don't play at all now. I'm 6"5" and was pretty much tallest in my year back then but everyone seemed catch up aftter a while. Before that I always threw myself into anyone coming at me, never used to be skinny though.

Well we may have more pads... but then again they have more money and a longer career lifespan, or so I would think considering I just happened to see you guys playing rugby on some random channel. Its a nice bloodbath sport, but you guys can't honestly last that long in that sport, can you?

Wel I didn't quit because I was injured or anything. But rugby players can play up until their mid thirties like soccer players, in the profesional game. And your right about the pay, however when your earning ten grand a weak you don't really consider that a poor wage.

You guys last that long? Man... i'm kinda suprised. And I only assumed how much you guys make.

Dunno. How easy is it to become famous for rugby over there?

Not so easy, you would do far better being a soccer star there almost gods. Rugby is picking up pace though since England won the world cup a whole ne life of interest has happened but its still not likely. And as for rugby league, rather than union, your better off trying to become famous by beaing a postman.

Pfft. Sports that aren't Rugby. (Anyone considering the martial arts a sport and not a lifestyle will be beaten about the head by me and most probably Dragon Slayer.)

Sports own. I like 'em all. Except NBA basketball... not since MJ left Chicago.

As for the Rugby v. American Football thing... the way football is set up, it makes more sense to have pads than it would in Rugby. In Rugby there's a lot of lateral movement and a lot more passing the ball off, so there's less commitment to a tackle. In football, more often than not, the guy who's got the ball, unless it's the QB, is going to continue to have it. So the defenders have one thing on their mind: kill kill kill kill...

The hits in American Football are far more intense than in Rugby. Yes, there'll be outlying cases, but on average, you must admit that in the US sport, more pain is being flung around on a play by play basis.

America and it's love for violence. What would the world be like if we didn't have it, I don't know.
