Schme seems to have some sort of forum schizophenia...every once in a while something comes out that hasn't got a thing to do with the thread, or anything else.
Or am I the only one who can't understand some of his other posts...like "ten dollars"
Acutually, I assumed he was talking about the recent news article I read that a couple American companies were suing to not be held liable for their web content that was protected by American free speech, but that other countries' citizens could see and find objectionable.
International power aside...there's no liability to the American companies that I can see. They don't present the 'offensive' data (whatever it might be) in any other country, assuming their servers are here. To be offended, whoever's complaining has to go through a connector in their own country and ask for it to be sent to them from a computer which, on the US soil it inhabits, can't be breaking any law by providing said information.
The one that this less-liberal country can legitimately complain about is whoever is operating on their ground and re-transmitting this unacceptable material (by request only) to their unfortunate citizens.
(the above from someone who neither knows the situation beyond this thread nor is any form of expert on international law)
