Yay for resting!

Postby Missy » Sun Jan 30, 2005 5:38 am

Thanks for getting to resting. Finally people will congregate in the Church of Jos. Now they'll all have reason when chairs are built. I can see it now. People will begin to attend mass (though literally they're all in there to rest.)

Finally people will go to a medical center when they feel faint, and they'll go for something besides to get told "you have the sleeping sickness."

People will gather in the library to read literature (though they'll really be there to rest.) so long as there are chairs.

People will sit around a table at council meetings and rest in chairs.

Thank you!

Except... have you read the thread in Support about too-rapidly accumulating tiredness? Will you enjoy resting every third or fourth day? :(

I think the resting is just great! And likely to be most useful in the case of the new sneezing epidemic.

Perhaps people will have to form schedules and better organization to deal with what you mention.

In example certain people work certain days while others have off.

*Shrugs* I'm really thankful for the option to use cots and chairs and beds at all. I'm just so glad that my chars will finally get to use their furniture. Some have had it for as long as it has existed. (Which brings to question--Is there a use for shelves and cabin trunks yet? )

Anyway, the idea for this has been around forever. I'm so happy I could grin from ear to ear.

And no, the idea they might have to rest every third day isn't too terribly burdening to me. But, that's just me.

I think this whol e tiredness thing has worked well - I always said it would be a good idea, as it'd make the more active players have more tired characters, and those who can only log in occasionally (which is one of the great things about Cantr - you can get by with 10 mins a week if you like) are on a more even level

At least, that's how it seemed to me - all my characters were fine over the xmas period, when I hardly managed to check in at all, now the active characters are getting really tired...

If that happens within the near future I will quit Cantr, as it will kill Cantr.

Oh, good...the people who are really playing get tl loose their reason to live, IC and OOC.

Seriously...I'm a lot grateful for resting. If I don't sound like it, it's because I'm a lot ungrateful at the sudden huge jump in tiredness (again), and the fact that it doesn't begin to fix the worst problems with the stable (not good, but stable) system we had two days ago.

The new state fixes, for the lucky ones, the 'I''m so tired that there's no point in living' problem (with beds) and the 'I'll do the first 98% of the project, someone else finishes, I don't getr tired' trick (I think that would have worked...sounds like new tiredness will do away with that)

It doesn't help the 'can't kill a thief unless you have good skills and are willing to sacrifice your entire energy bar' flaw...and it creates the massive 'we can't do anything, and we have to take daily breaks in between not doing anything' flaw. (yes, daily. I've gotten about 50% from working since the evil happened...less than two days ago.)

Oh, also...piracy with intent to kill is back with a vengeance if beds work well... Some people will realize what I mean. Say goodby to your few days of coastal security.
