This is kinda getting back to the main topic, but I think the main problem with Quillanoi, is that when the people said "Democracy" everyone just thought it would be ok, without even really thinking...it's kinda a democracy, with elected leaders, and courts and things, but although it was a great IDEA it has turned into a few people ruling, with the guards, and all the people who don't care about polotics and would rather everyone just shutup, behind them...it can't change, and it won't change, until either a bunch of people try to revolt or someone takes it over...

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion... We have had thirteen States independent for eleven years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century and a half, for each State. What country before ever existed a century and a half without a rebellion?" --Thomas Jefferson to William S. Smith, 1787. ME 6:372
I didn't have it exactly right. Took forever to find it.

If your characters don't like the people in power, why don't they vote for someone else.

Lets see, the people who are currently in power have only be in power for a short compared to poast rulers of Quillanoi (except maybe Cromwell

A lot of character who are against the current leadership and government keep saying that anew government should be form because the majority of the people don't like it. If the majority of the people didn't like it then why did the Constitution ever get voted in in the first place and those characters elected by the people to hold those positions. I also notice that it is usually a lot of young characters who come out against the government and the people in charge who no of nothing that happened in the past or how things came to be. At the same time there are a lot of older characters who want the current government and people in power but who usually stay pretty quiet about it during the arguments.
A little about Ealse is that, ironically, He doesn't want to be in any power seat. He would be content with writing for his newspaper and collecting literature and stuff for his library (which seems to always to get robbed

I just thought I would explain my character a little bit better since many don't seem to understand him at times.

I didn't say it was because my characters are not in power, I just said that I believe the people of quillanoi didn't know what they were getting into, and are just to tired of conflict right now to get it straight, so they are just content to let all the people who care (not a bad thing at all) to do whatever they please, which is usually not for anyones benefit but their own (not that everyone is like that). an example is that although Mi Yu repeatedly asked for the people to support him, and let that lady out of jail, the only people who answered were the government and the guard, nobody who didn't have an important position somewhere said anything...

Indeed the tree of liberty must be nourished from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants alike;) who said that?:P Where is the excitement in this so-called democracy?

Because everything would be what it isn't.
And contrary-wise

And what it wouldn't be,
it would.
You see?"
