Weight reset for cantr 2.0?

Postby Appleide » Sun Nov 28, 2004 6:40 am

It seems to be weird that a person in cantr can carry thirty iron shields no problems, but in real life the most iron shields a person could carry and walk at normal speed for a long time is two.

Wouldn't it be great if the weights of different objects relations be normal?

eg. Make the iron shield 5kg or more
Make a car weigh at least 500 kg
a sword 5kg or more

and make a long boat weigh at least 1000kg

But of course, this would mean that those things would need more resources, and in cantr it is very hard to get 100kg+ of things in an average fourty year life time.( actually 400 days, because a person start at 20)

So increase the resources a person could gather a day.

eg. wood 10kg a day

stone 12kg a day

carrots 2kg a day

hematite 12 kg a day

and so on

if this was implemented then it would mean that there is really such a thing called emcumbrance. (or however you spell it).

A person could no longer hold ten long bows and five iron shieds and a broadsword.

What do you think?

I think we shoul djust leave it and stop reading into things so much. Who is to say Cantarians don't have 100 hands to hold all those iron shields? Nobody. That's who.

I once suggested Cantrians are midgets and it might be true. It could be nice to have the weights made realistic but since they still couldn't carry much it would of course limit things. But that's the way of the world. But if the weights are increased then I want to see the ability for using tamed animals to carry things or drag vehicles.

I would definitely like to see the "iron shield? Or more trade goods..." trade off become more purposeful. At the moment, everyone just takes the shield.

This one's so far down off the bottom of my nice-to-have list that it's probably in China somewhere.
