This I did not know. Do you know why?

So do pretty much all Polish players read English well? When I see Polish chars using both languages, like, *uśmiecha/smiles* Then I'll just shrug and emote normally, but I've never been sure when they're purely emoting in Polish.

Here is a good exemplary sentence 'He wanted that'. Without a dot it translates it as if something should follow, like 'He wanted that you ate icecream'. (Yes, I am aware that it is incorrect, but apparently google translate doesn't care). In the other case 'that' serves as a conjunction, in the first as a pronoun, and both cases translate differently to Polish. Ugh... I hope it makes sense.

Yes, most of the Polish players do read English. They just do not emote in English, as it is much much harder to write something than to read. And believe me, even if you know English quite well, then still emoting in English is a real pain in the neck (at least when you want to write something more elaborate than 'smiles' or 'shrugs'), as you have to use specific language. Like, when was the last time that you actually -said- IR to someone that you were leaning on the window sill, or curling your hands up, or meeting someone's eyes? One really has to learn a lot to be able to emote in English on a decent level.

I wouldn't have said it better, Alutka. When it comes to body movements, one notices how difficult English can be. I used to write long emotes in my language, describing movement and poses. When I try to do it in English, I must look like robot dancing or something similar.

My praise to all the players who write amazing emotes we can keep learning from. And for the ones who suffer our attempts in silence! *leans back resting her back on the back of the chair and...* Oh, dammit, I swear it sounds good in O.V.!

If you play the chars I suspect you do, then your emotes are a joy to read. Maybe the wording doesn't quite translate perfectly but you do a wonderful job of painting a scene and describe your chars' actions in unique and interesting ways. Keep it up!

This! I am so glad that I wasn't aware that you can send daily reports on your email when I was making my first attempts to emote in English. It was worse than an epic fail, I am sure of that. Still emoting in English sometimes leaves me with my brain literally sizzling.

This thread has become Polish appreciation, and praise for inter-lingual difficulties overcome. And that's glorious too.

Yes, to those who aren't great at the language, and do a solid effort, it's different, it's difficult, but it's a great joy to get the points across.

RP praise & Polish points to Gregor of Bhak. He isn't awake all the time, but when he is, he adds a very adorable local colour.

Bréanainn Phrixus aka Fix
Harley Grey
Hawke and Lonicera
Hawke of Xanth
Jamber - He reminds me of this annoying little door to door salesman. He rolls into town offers you all sorts of junk and no matter what you wind up buying this stuff as you swear you won't do it. He leaves and you're minus a few things and plus this heavy cruddy junk that you're somehow convinced that you need. Its hilarious.

I'd also like to throw some praise Fix's way.
