Argh, tech support.
Look, I'm not spazzing out at you, I just want to fix my goshdarned broken Kindle. You don't have to tell me not to worry every time I mention something that isn't working, you don't need to tell me that you're "here to help", I just want to know how to fix it. I don't need you to apologize that my Kindle's not working, I just want to either fix it, or find a way to send it in somewhere for repairs.
I really, really don't need to be told not to worry every single time I report that whatever fix we tried didn't work, or is working slowly. Just- really. I'm not so immature that I need to be reassured every single time something appears to be going wrong. I'm an adult. I understand it might actually be broken to the point where we can't fix it over chat, and while I'd be rather upset because that means I lose my most convenient form of access to many of my books for a while, I know it's not your fault.
Please. Stop being overbearingly polite and just talk like a normal person. It's far less frustrating to interact with you when you don't sound like an apologizing-robot.
*sigh* I know it's their job and that they probably deal with a lot of people who do need to be reassured and apologized to every two minutes, but... I'm not one of those people. And in all fairness to the tech person from Amazon I was just talking to, we did fix my Kindle and it turned out to be just that my Kindle needed to update its software.
I just hate dealing with tech support, because I know I'm going to be apologized to or reassured roughly ever other time the person says something and for whatever reason that actually kind of annoys me.
I'm trying to be mature about it - I'd never actually rant to the person trying to fix my tech issues about this while in mid-support, but I do want to express my feelings somehow.
