Greek wrote:When all my ideas for "did you know..." have been already written, I've started to ask people what they find strange or interesting in the game.
One of them - a musician - said there are no harpsichords in Cantr. He also mentioned pianos, but they are more likely to become implemented in the future.
Then I'd have to update these texts and I'm too laaaazy for that.
I prefer to never introduce harpsichords and keep the 'did you know...' text.

Still, I find it odd to focus on one of the few instruments we don't have. I'd rather hear, did you know...there are all sorts of instruments in the game, like guitars, tambourines...et cetera..

Edited:because I was beginning to sound like Boneman.

Today I learnt that the following is a grammatically correct sentence:

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.

Cantr picked a bad time to become interesting. Doesn't it know finals and juries are coming?!

Lesson learned: never Cantr in class, especially when experiencing lapses in focus.
(I.e. No "Well I'm having a hard time focusing on the lecture, I don't know what she's talking about anymore, might as well play Cantr.")
If I can't focus on lecture, how can I expect me to focus on Cantr?

My partner and I got two ferret sisters, we've had them for a while. Pinky and Perky. Perky was only a year and a bit old, her sister older, but she's died today... she was fine one moment, then dead the next. Died in her sleep cuddling her sister. :'C We think it's an hormonal build-up, since we chose not to neuter them just yet. We were going to get them a boyfriend, but could never find one.

Rest in peace Perky Pie, we'll miss you. :c Your sister especially.

I'm worried about Pinky, she's never been without her sister. We may have to rehome her to someone who has ferrets already.

This sucks, even though it wasn't a super active player I liked their undeniable sass.

Drat, I just realized - I got my computer back, repaired.

But now I've lost the script I'd wrote to help me RP my character in Polish-speaking areas, that replaced the words my character knew. That'll be a bit annoying to start again, but at least I hadn't put much of the words from her dictionaries in yet.

(Yes, making sure to follow capital rule - she only knows the words she's found in dictionaries. Well, and the ones she's learning now from talking, but she's writing those down too)

I love how people in Cantr die, and it's totally socially acceptable to say "Oh, well she hasn't spoken in a while". Imagine saying that at your grandmother's death. "Oh well she hasn't been that active anyway lately".

Argh, tech support.

Look, I'm not spazzing out at you, I just want to fix my goshdarned broken Kindle. You don't have to tell me not to worry every time I mention something that isn't working, you don't need to tell me that you're "here to help", I just want to know how to fix it. I don't need you to apologize that my Kindle's not working, I just want to either fix it, or find a way to send it in somewhere for repairs.

I really, really don't need to be told not to worry every single time I report that whatever fix we tried didn't work, or is working slowly. Just- really. I'm not so immature that I need to be reassured every single time something appears to be going wrong. I'm an adult. I understand it might actually be broken to the point where we can't fix it over chat, and while I'd be rather upset because that means I lose my most convenient form of access to many of my books for a while, I know it's not your fault.

Please. Stop being overbearingly polite and just talk like a normal person. It's far less frustrating to interact with you when you don't sound like an apologizing-robot.

*sigh* I know it's their job and that they probably deal with a lot of people who do need to be reassured and apologized to every two minutes, but... I'm not one of those people. And in all fairness to the tech person from Amazon I was just talking to, we did fix my Kindle and it turned out to be just that my Kindle needed to update its software.

I just hate dealing with tech support, because I know I'm going to be apologized to or reassured roughly ever other time the person says something and for whatever reason that actually kind of annoys me.

I'm trying to be mature about it - I'd never actually rant to the person trying to fix my tech issues about this while in mid-support, but I do want to express my feelings somehow.

As somebody who did tech support for two years with Apple I can tell you that the person is likely rolling their eyes every time they say it. But I can also tell you that the "Not to worry" and "okay, that's alright I still have something we can try" lines do wonders from stopping people from flipping their edited shit.

And the thing is, we never know who it is that's going to flip. Sometimes you think your customer is being very understanding, and suddenly you're a edited because she didn't read the pop up when syncing her library with her ipod or iphone. If you can help keep the customer from feeling all "omg nothing is working panic tiem" it goes a loooong way towards actually being able to solve their issue.

Yeah, that's why I'm just rambling about it here. I mostly get where those lines are helpful and that they probably do have to say it most of the time even if they don't need to. I'm just awkward enough dealing with people anyway - at least it was just over chat, not me on the phone.

And... on a different "don't really want to deal with this but it helps I guess" note, I really gotta recreate that one Greasemonkey script I'd started.

Polish is a fascinating language and I want to learn it. But the language learning app I put on my phone doesn't have it as an option. Even though it recently updated to include Klingon (among other, human languages that it didn't have before).

And on an almost /completely/ different note...
I now have three languages to invent for the purposes of making a story. It'll be so fun! *nerdy delight*
