In character, no, not appropriate as the characters should have no knowledge of the players lazy/busy moments and should not react in tune to that detail.

As a player, it would be okay to wonder. I have had varying degrees of life consuming busywork overtake me quite regularly this last year and a half. As a player, there were many times that I could not bring myself to read over a massive amount of text. (anyone in a busy town who doesn't get the chance to log in for a day or two will know how that is)

The way I looked at it was, do I as a player want to spend the one hour free I had to read over all the events from all the characters, or did I want to hop in and give them some life? Me, I wanted to be a part of the action, not read about it. For the most part, it was okay, except for the dramallamas who went insane with their bleating.

That's how I feel for the most part. But if it is someone required to move things along, it is so depressing to keep repeating myself. I can easily forgive this behaviour a few times, but when it becomes repeated behaviour? I would feel very tempted to have my character think they are being ignored.

I don't want to upset any players, but simultaneously I don't want to have the game ruined for me by being denied something that ICly wouldn't normally be denied.

Most players would play it off as "so and so is sleepy" but I don't really talk about sleeping in character as a sort of rule for myself.

Maybe you misunderstood, I will clarify:

If the character would normally feel ignored in such a situation, then yes, RP it for sure. But if it is the player who is feeling ignored because they feel the other player is being lazy/busy, then no, it isn't okay.

Basically, it breaks down to if the character feels it, it should be RPed. If it is only the player who suspects something, or feels something, they shouldn't have their characters emulate it.

Ah, I meant very specifically (though I wasn't clear on that, sorry) when a character asks a question or needs something from a player, and they roleplay as if they only saw the last ten events. Mostly an issue when it happens repeatedly or even consistently.

I tend to feel bad because the player usually didn't intend for their character to ignore mine, because they are pleasant enough normally. I try my best to ignore it and try again later, but some towns are so full of "did you see my question?" (which obviously should be "hear my question" but that aside) that I wonder if that player should hold the power to put progress to a stop so endlessly without IC repercussions.

So basically I got worried because it is technically an OOC reason, that I would be responding to IC.

There is your answer then

OOC has no place IC, for any reason.

That being said, characters have a right to be annoyed that their leaders don't hear them. I would RP as such if mine felt that way.

I don't, mine will ask if they were handed a note. If they respond with a no, mine will then proceed to ask how they could possibly see what they wrote then!

Another one is when people get anal in game about another characters spelling mistakes. If the words sound the same, they shouldn't really be picked up on IC. Meet and meat sound identical and when used in context, the character should know what it is.

And on the subject of misspellings, I -really- hate it when people complain OOC about spelling mistakes in general. Like... Stop.

Based on game mechanics, that makes sense...

It would be technically possible to disable that requirement if people think it's too limiting.

I would think you could paint a little porcelain doll with a paint brush.

I think it is. It's a very expensive item already, and simply modifying it shouldn't be that hard. I'm just glad I didn't delay doing it till my char went sailing. She'd be mortified.

Okay, I changed it so that you no longer need a kiln to re-describe the porcelain and bone china dolls.

Excellent, Seko, thank you!
Now, how about getting rid of the workbench requirement for the rings (that require it) as well?

I think workbench makes more sense because I imagine the ring is being squeezed into place as you're working on it. It's very precise work so you want it to stay still.

I know, I guess I wasn't really serious about that one as I'm not really bothered about that, and it does make sense. :)
