All of those characters that die because of people deavtivating their accounts, or accounts being closed - how about a system of slavery, where any charcter left after an account has been deactivated can be used as slave labour...

Slavery in cantr
Ok, this is probably too difficult to implement - and everyone will disagree anyway, but it's just an idea...

But your char can get slave labor by kidnapping another character and scaring them into working for you char. It's actually not that hard. Especially if the person doesn't have a death wish for that char and is willing to RP it out.
When people tell me that great minds think alike, all I can do is look at them and think "oh you dirty, dirty bastard"

How about if you enslave someone then using some piece of equipment you can force them to be on a certain project, then you recieve the stuff that the slaves recieve instead of them. I guess that would make it so that NPCs could be created though, as people who would fall into the sleeping sickness could be controlled and fed by their masters, but the ability to put slaves up to trade and the idea of slave runners, that, I think, would be worth having non-reponsive characters in Cantr.

Well, if someone unsubcribes the character would still die, but I mean like when school starts back up and everyone leaves their accounts for a lack of time, players with the time could enslave those suffering of the sleeping sickness, and if they're nice, they could give the character back to the player when summer rolls by again. Or just take everyone willy nilly and put a quarter of an islands population working for their evil masters. Muh hah hah hah ha! *ahem* Did I say that out loud, eh heh heh, opps

It is in Cantr, and I mean that without any sarcasm. The glitch is that the average cantrian commits suicide rather than play such an annoying role.
Slavery by game mechanic...that's not a good idea, as I've said before.

Great... then you have to solve the problems that come from the problem you just invented. Sounds vaguely like Windows operating systems.
Maybe if you limit people with over 5 characters to 1 extra character per 5 days they'd be more inclined to keep them alive. That might also limit the thiefspawns.
