(Warning: tedious rambling inside, go ahead without stopping)
Probably I'm having a very emotional moment, but I feel like thanking someone who won't read this, among other reasons, because he heart-attacked his characters last Christmas day (yes, last christmas he gave us his heart). Since all the chars I knew from that player were males, I will simplify referring to him in masculine, although I don't really know his/her gender.
I'm terribly lazy for trying games, and cantr wasn't an exception: the guy that brought me here spent days and days telling me to register, and then days and days (with puppy eyes and some blackmail included) telling me to log in and don't let my only char die after my first "meh, I don't like it" reaction. When I succumbed and logged in, ready to give it a try, my char was, naturally, starving (a 90% or 95%, I don't really remember) and -that- char from that anonymous player (well, anonymous for me at least) was not only feeding her, but talking to her so nicely, brushing her hair away from her face, asking her to live... It compelled me to interact with him to somehow... thank the player for the effort. Those first interactions got me trapped and was, for me, the first bite at that lure that cantr tempts us players with.
Fortuitously, like ¿ten? cantr years after or so, last Christmas day, we played the opposite escene, with his char's head resting on my char's lap while she was begging him to be strong.
I never praised any of his chars, well, I wasn't even registered in the forum till short before his quitting, and all his creations were pretty... discrete, not the ones to get involved in endless verbal jousting (and that wonderful expression is vilely stolen from an awesome cantrian) or thrilling stories, but ALL the chars I met from that player were devoted to make cantr a welcoming place for the rest of players, mostly to the newspawns. He displayed an incredible amount of patience trying to help those newspanws to find their "something", their purpose, their goals, even the brushstrokes of their personality.
I have the need to say thank you to that person, whoever it was, not only for "making" me roleplay, but most of all for caring so much for the players.
And this will be even more off-topic, but since I don't get this mushy often, I'll make a happy hour and say thanks too to the indirect guilty of me roleplaying again after the heartattacking and direct responsible of giving me hours of incredible awesomeness (gñe, You!); and also to You for [insert a bunch of unspoken stuff here, along with a grateful, warm, wide grin]; and to You because you're so absolutely awesome that I don't ask you if came back to cantr because I love fantasizing with the possibility that you actually did.
Thanks to the minds behind all that wonderful chars, dead or living, and to all the ones that I haven't met still.
