Besides, it's a more classic (as in still existing) RL building material than most mud and reed huts.

Limestone buildings
I think it would be neat if we could make limestone buildings. It would be great for starting communities in places without wood, stone, reed or mud.

Dudel... thank you for making such an ass of yourself.
You always enter discussions with the Dudelistic approach (as in "I know everything, you know nothing"). It is very annoying mostly, and has made me ignore you on IRC and wish I could ignore you on here, but this time it is very funny. Bbecause you make such an ass of yourself.
The Pyramids of Giza are built of limestone. Historically It's the third most important construction material for stone buildings, after granite and sandstone. Now shut up and leave my threads alone.

Yeah right, look at all those 4-5000 year old shiny and brand new mud and reed huts still cluttering the countryside wherever I go on the planet, while the pyramids really start looking a bit weatherbeaten after that time.
Just making a comparison to what we already have in game.

I'm not sure if I understood you correctly, but in most cases the limestone part of the pyramids is gone or signifacally reduced.
And I didn't say that I'm fine with the current Cantr's system of infinity
Afaik, only the chambers are made of granite, while the core of the pyramid is limestone alone. Also, the main reason for the looks the pyramids have today is believed to be that an earthquake loosened many of the casing stone blocks of the pyramid. These were later shipped to Cairo as building materials for mosques and fortresses. So, an earthquake in the 14th century, and man made vandalism is the major culprit when it comes to the deterioration of the pyramids.

Edit: Lol, was criticizing Dudel at the same time as ^
In the desert, maybe!
Know where I live? A SWAMP! Know what happens to limestone and sandstone IN A SWAMP?
Although with Cantr mechanics you could built things out of seagrass if someone wanted so it don't really matter.
But again, don't matter... however in a strictly mechanical level this is rather pointless. Most materials for building go unnoticed and this seems like the players attempt to save a character or two by changing mechanics.

Hmm... I don't really see a need for action either. Limestone is already one of the key resorces of the game and I doubt that making it even more useful would be sensible. Especially as it's not much of a problem to get regular stone in most places.
If you need to have an in-game reason, just imagine that limestone is indeed very brittle and of a gravelly nature. After all you can gather it with a shovel.

Pretty in pink.

Even ash can be compressed into brick...

You can even build buildings out of salt! (altough situated in the salt desert)
----
Once we got proper deterioration implemented and
once we got proper demolition implemented
I don't see what speaks against limestone as new material, or a deal of other possible building materials. . Especially on demolition part it would be very weak an inferior to stone...

Bear in mind, there are initiators such as Dudel who are just annoying, young and idiotic.. and after years of annoyance, it just builds up.
Being a new member, you probably haven't noticed the history of Dudel and other initiators. If you've been here a while, you should understand it.
