Blocking slots.

Postby Caesar » Tue Aug 25, 2009 1:28 pm

Okay. So when a character younger than twenty five (25) dies, (s)he blocks the character slot for forty days.

But what if the character is just two or three days from aging, and dies, not because the player wants him/her to die, but because of either having to RP it, (because, for example, the character is being tortured to death..) or due to being unable to give him/her food?

The player ends up having to wait forty days for a new character slot.

My suggestion;
Let the player wait until the character would have been twenty-five, instead of forty days. So if it would take just three more days. Let him/her wait three days.

Of course there would still have to be a maximum of forty days.

I believe it is already implemented this way. Although you see the 40 days countdown, the counter is removed when your char would have hit 25 and you can spawn a new char.

New Suggestion: Fix the countdown.

Yup. The current system is not very intuitive.

Ah! That explains a lot. I was surprised to see "40 days blah blah blah" and then at 38 it disappeared :D

They already told me so.
I just didn't know that yet, as it shows 'blocking slot for 40 day(s)'.

It should rather say that the slot is blocked for forty days or as long as it would've taken the character to reach the age of 25.

That would hardly fit in. Would it be so difficult to let the counter start with a lower number?

In my opinion it should "Just be blocked" and have no actual timer to it. However, I do see how that would annoy.

But yeah... starting at the number of days "until" or 40.. which ever is smallest.

I think it should just be fourty days, regardless of age :-) ... This would increase the value of characters' lives for their players and make them care more about death, which should increase the care they take for their characters ...
