Well, don't forget we're most likely talking about the English language group here. You can't avoid importing much of the culture together with the language. In a Japanese language group probably no-one would complain about ninjas.
Besides, after all kight, pirate and ninja are just words. They don't have to mean exactly the same as in the real world.
"Sleeping", "spawning" similarly is really sort of an OOC concept, in game people might use different terms, or ideas, if they are truely being in character.
I always percieved those things as very in-game concepts. Sleeping in Cantr differs from real sleeping in almost everything except the word. And it's the same with spawning. We could of course use other words, but if they would mean the same, what's the point?
