That is, you can set a dynamic name just as you can for the character or building, but you also see something distinguishing beforehand.

If there was an emoticon with a thumbs up, I'd use it here :D
The identifyable symbol beside the dynamic name is perfect.

As for the whole parent thing, don't you guys think you're making it more complex than it needs be? If the two parents are of different origin, then it should randomly pick between the two. Not like "parents" really matter in-game. You might even want to consider have three random options, split between the two parents and the location of spawning. It'd make more sense that way, cantr-wse, that is ;)

I disagree. I do want mestizos in game (at least two recognizable origins, and a pure mestizo look for more messed races).

An icon of a certain color or picture to determine the race with dynamic naming. If the parents of a character are of different races, both icons will be pictured. If the parents are of mixed race, one icon will be chosen from each parent randomly resulting in double icons for the offspring. If the parents are mixed races, but share one race in common, that race will automatically be chosen and the second race for the child will be random. The icons for the races could be based on the island (or we could divide the island up into a north, south, east, and west quadrant) of birth for all of the characters that are in game currently, which will set the basis for characters to come.

Parent A: * ^
Parent B: * $
Child A: * $
Child B: * ^

Parent C: #
Parent D: &
Child C: # &

(If the parents are of mixed race, with one parent being a pure race, the pure parent will automatically pass on his race, while the other parent will pass on a random race icon)
Parent E: ^ &
Parent F: #
Child E: # ^
Child F # &

Or something to that effect. Of course, we would need a system for procreation before this system would work. But this idea is pretty neutral and shouldn't upset any players as the icons do not really tell what feature is distinguishable according to race. There could be a dark skinned man and a light skinned man of the same race.

I like that. But that would discard the "total" mestizo race.

It is supposed that, with enough time, and the current globalization, all humans will look the same (pure blonde people will be the first in disappear).

That happening in Cantr would be interesting. It would need faster and massive transport means (airplanes and ships) and global peaceful interaction (not just massacres, you know).

Bump.

I like Solutions' solution.
That, and this idea is awesome. People look too much alike. Anything to make some interesting differences, without disrupting current player imaginations, would be awesome.

I'd rather have:

He is Siomese
He is Zuzian

And if ones parents are Zuzian and Siomese, he could be a Siomese-Zuzian.

Characters spawned right now would be classified only on where the spawned so if I spawned in Kiii but my parents were Siomese and Zuzian, I'd be known as Kiish.

But later characters could be classified by thier parents.

Ummm.... You do know that locations are dynamically named, right?
The symbols/colours suggestion allows for player creativity to dominate the game in areas where it rightfully should.

Plus, who needs "He is Pok Southern Mountains (south)ian" in their description? :P

Double-Plus, if you've never seen a Siomese person before, you shouldn't be able to know they're from Siom.

Symbols/Colours.... Races.... Come on! :D

Hmm... I completely forgot about posting that, but, yeah, I still like it a lot.

Um, that PSM thing would be Pokish. But yeah, good point.
