I have one preset moral issue in all my characters. No cybering. Really, I think its illegal in the US to cyber if you're not 18 or something. So... I'm probably the youngest decent player here. (Anybody below a teenagers age? I'm not saying specifically if I'm a teen or not...)

Blehanyway, I would have to praise a certain area from breaking away from a tradition of good morals. A place that thinks nothing of killing a person and stealing from them.

As for excitement in Cantr, get a character near Zuzi, things are gonna get good. ;) From my most successful character... this is gonna be awesome. Zuzi is gonna be one of the best places in Cantr hopefully, cultural music, art, stories, history, ethnicity might be important things in that area. And many many things for sure will happen. ;) Although, they will be kept a secret unless you find out IG...

Near Zuzi? I think I might know about that. If it's the group I'm thinking of I hope they're all cut down and their corpses dragged through the streets.

"Near"? Kiii is near Zuzi and it's been rather uneventful. No idea what's going on in Zuzi, last time someone went there they said the whole place is a mess and full of sleepers. I seem to remember the Empress was planning to pay us a visit but did she come? Not as far as I know. And that was years ago.

i think something might happen concerning the oldest entity in the mainlands of cantr. something big might happen, and one of my characters might be the cause of it. He just might ask some power to invade another power, causing a huge multiple city war spanning probably 10 locations, give or take a few depending on whether the power he asks to get attacked goes on the offensive.

Shhhhhhhhh !!!! (Fujitsu!)

Now, everyone in that region (with an eye on this forum) will start poping corn or forging battleaxes.

Come on! The four-days rule is too permissive, and you are talking about events that haven't happened yet.

MULTIPLE CITY WAR? What the heck? I'm gonna PM you and see if the group name rings a bell or not. I wanna if you're talking about us cause I don't know anything about multiple city wars.

I assure you, its not a war- a more of something else. ;-)

Actually, when i first started...about two years ago (and four accounts later) i had a character named Rune who lived in blaman forest well he decided that he was going to adventure into the mountains, and a priestess in blaman warned him that some remaining barons or whatever...i know huge war shut up about it (i like wars more death=les characters=less lag) anyway he made it into a mountain and there were a bunch of buildings but no one was in town so he walked into the buildings that werent locked, the prsion was the only one that was locked amazingly and after a day, a bandit (maybe i baron...i dont know) attacked him and i didnt play for three or four days...needless to say Runes body stayed on a Mountain for a while

My point in this is that people have wars everyday and like it was already said, the best killings are ones with no witnesses, in fact one of my current characters has no problem with killing someone (especially after reading that note about the sheep worshipping people) as long as theres a reason to it, for, my character has yet to see real good or evil and so would have no predertermined idea as to what to do with his life so anyone could be evil and i encourage it  besides...what could possibly go wrong?

Ahhh....I just love that phrase. It gives me this feeling of joy because I just -know- that something has now got to go wrong.

In response to the original post:

I have tried before to play a character that was a murderer or kidnapper or any of the other Cantr-possible criminals. However, I have always run into a somewhat circular problem. When you first spawn in a town, you have nowhere near the weapons or items needed to successfully complete crimes without getting killed or jailed by a mob of "Guards" or "Knights" who rarely get the chance to fight against a criminal, and jump on the opportunity.

So, that leaves you with having to get some weapons, a crowbar, and some sort of vehicle(ideally). To get these items however you need the help of others and you can only get that by being a nice sociable person(not a criminal's characteristics). So, once you play long enough as that nice person and get all of the equipment you need to be a successful criminal, you feel like you are playing out-of-character by completely reversing your character's personality and starting to hurt and steal from others. Once you play that long as a nice guy, and get all of the friends you have, you start to like that character and do not want to throw away everything he has to become a "lone bandito".

That is just what I have seemed to run into while trying to create a very evil character. The only criminals I have successfully played is some small potato thieves and hunting law breakers. Also the occasional short-lived bone club assassin or the ever-hated note thief.

I believe the original poster was more concerned with characters spawning with preset morals (usually the player's RL morals) rather than the difficulties of criminals, though that's a valid concern none the less, and is obviously the reason why crime is so low. I guess you can rather wait a long time for weapons to become more abundant, be extremely lucky, or work for a weapon and shield, though you don't really need them to be successful, as long as you don't get caught.

So, that leaves you with having to get some weapons, a crowbar, and some sort of vehicle(ideally). To get these items however you need the help of others and you can only get that by being a nice sociable person(not a criminal's characteristics).

That's just been a sterotypical criminal. No-one is forcing you to mold your characters into sterotypes. In fact, you probably shouldn't, unless your character's environment in which it spawned molded it into that personality.

Like I said above, you don't neccessarily need good equipment to be a successful criminal (depending on what crime you plan on committing though, I guess). And as for personality.. Like I said above, about sterotypes. Maybe your character is just a naive newspawn who doesn't think there's anything wrong with his/her anti-social behaviour? Maybe s/he was just concealing his/her real feelings and views? There's criminals who seem like nice people in real life, till you notice they've robbed you blind while you turned your back on them.

That is just what I have seemed to run into while trying to create a very evil character.

A evil character isn't neccessarily a criminal. They might be a town guard who works hard at enforcing the laws, and in doing so slaughters all criminals mercilessly despite how minor their crime is, yet some would still consider them 'evil'.

A good criminal is someone who can charm others, they may be anti-social on the inside and wish for everyone's downfall, but they can appear sociable on the outside. It seems to me that all the criminals in cantr that act like a stereotypical criminal (and there's nothing wrong with that) always lead fairly short lives; they make an impact, a lot of people die, everyone turns against them and then their brief reign of terror is discussed in the forums.

Spawn and run thieves can be profiatble. Very.

In my extensive experience, I reckon a 'sucessful' spawn-and-run thief

(i.e: immediate building-searching results in access to mid-to high grade weapons and shilds, or get a stock of healing food and some valuable trade-worthy resources, or even possibly get a vehicle)

Will occur every 1-in-4 to 1-in-6 spawns.

The locking of 'slots' for loosing characters is a bug bear of mine - I think that spawn-and-run thieves are good for Cantr, in that they are almost the only petty crime which exists, and they keep leaders on their toes... That, and I enjoy being a little anrachic.

Cantrian thievery 101, Lesson 1:
Note that biding time raises those oddds significantly. If you are active enough, and keep a sharp eye out for who is weak enough to whack, which old sleeper to keep an eye on, which trader is leaving their vehicle unlocked for various purposes... These are all prime moments for Cantrian thieves.
Whoever you vote for.

The government wins.

That's it exactly. Subtlety. But there's still a lot of luck involved in where you happen to spawn.
This is why you can't preset your char to be anything... it all depends on the environment.

It is really hard to be a murderer in Cantr because of the Cantr combat system. :?
But it is quite easy to be a thief. There is many possible types of thieves:

Come-and-Run thief arrives by a vehicle (as fast as possible), takes stuff and leaves.

Pirate is quite same than Come-and-Run but pirate have a ship and weapon.

Cheater promises to do something with the resources what he gets but he... cheats :?

Person who collects resources which are owned by somebody.

Person who picks some resources from the ground which was from the project he have to do (sorry about my english)

Newspawn thief picks stuff and runs... :?
You get attacked by a human losing 42 percent of your strength.
