Many many many things over the past 4 weeks
The last things we did were to slow down the game ... it seems to have speeded things up successfully * ... so far. We are still monitoring things but the last 24 hours have been a lot more pleasant.
* For an explanation why slowing down certain things speeds up the game , have a search for Queuing Theory.

Wednesday was really excellent. My congratulations, Chris.
Tonight Thursday was a bit of a mixed bag during peak time. I was thrown out several times but there were patches inbetween when it wasn't bad.
And yes I noticed that several pages were somehow "more deliberate" without being especially slow. For example, the new build menu. But given how many of the old page clicks it saves, that isn't really a problem for me.
All in all, this was real progress. Thanks for all your hard work.

In all truth, the lag has almost NEVER effected me. Well, there was a couple of times where Cantr just froze.... but I thought that was a hiccup with the PHP code's processing.
Nakranoth's "evil" character says:
"Thief! That's terrible! *shakes his head* That would hurt people's feeling if I did that."

I'm currently logged in well before Euro-peak Wednesday and response is excellent. Also there are 130-40-... even peaking at 150... people or so online, which is more than I was seeing earlier. Something very strange going on. Did somebody manage to undo Chris's improvements, or is someone syphoning off server "juice" during those peak periods?
Unfortunately I'm unable to log in during this new time slot every day. Very sad.

Well.... some (many!) games have up to 2000 players playing at a time with no lag. Of course, these games symbolize or model worlds rather simpler than Cantr, so their BDs are rather simpler, the SQL queries are rather simpler, etc.
But... something should be able to do in order to improve this great game!

Tyche es una malparida. Espero que Ramnus y Pluto intervengan... o no
