Corpses not disappearing when burying

Postby T-shirt » Wed Jan 03, 2007 9:20 am

I would like to suggest that corpses do not disappear until the burying project is completed. Burying projects as they are now, are completed the moment they are started. You only need to finish it to remove it from the projects list, not to complete it.

Do you mean that the buried bodies stays on the project list after that it have been burried? If so, the project list would be realy clogged up by bodies.

..no, he means the body is still visible until the body is buried. Right now as it is, the dead body is deleted from the database as soon as the project starts, and while the project requires finishing, the fact is that it still has just 'disappeared'.

edit: Yes I like it. An improvement rather than an add-on.

I beg to differ. The burial is not finished until the project is. The fact that the body is in a project (prepped for burial) and can still be viewed, maintains the simulation that corpses are still lying about uncovered.

I see this as delivering little gain.

Okay. People clean up the body count on the ground simply by throwing them into never-to-be-completed projects. That's the end of the story, worse part is, no one can see the bodies (unless they actually go to activities and click search)

I like the suggestion except that it makes the code unnecessarily messy :) ... So a very technical reason to object. But you'd have a problem if someone removes the body that is being buried, so you need code to avoid that, and it all becomes very ugly (from a coding point of view).

No, you arn't seeing the point, what people do is put them in projects, then cancel the project they started, and voila, the project is instantly finished

What if the amount of corpses and unfinished burials adds something to the location description upon arrival?

You can't cancel a burying project.

If you can cancel a burial project, something got broken. I got that error message on my first day of playing. :)

I've never actually tried it myself, it would feel to much like cheating ;). I just saw his message and assumed

Tested and proven.

I'm sure that's fine for the character to notice that him/her self. :P

It is not inexplicable - bodies which are not buried eventually rot away to nothing.
