There's a suggestion about descriptions being added to characters. And maybe buildings and objects too.
I would like to suggest a new textbox for characters and objects for descriptions and notes.
Then I can keep the name box of characters their name box and not note boxes:
John (<CANTR CHARDESC>, carpenter, owes me 500 grams of potatoes)
Will become:
field 1: John
field 2: <CANTR CHARDESC>, carpenter, owes me 500 grams of potatoes, friendly
which will be shown as:
John
A man in his thirties, carpenter, owes me 500 grams of potatoes, friendly
Or:
field 1: <CANTR CHARDESC>
field 2: [blank]
which will be shown as:
A man in his twenties
when the character is not known to you.
Only the first field will be shown on the events page. Both lines will be visible on the peoples page and the character information page.

Great idea. Also...(I am not sure if this has been fixed or not but..) if the description gets to long it turns the whole line (spoken by the person) into a link to get to their info page. It was really annoying. This would fix that problem I'm sure.
a day without cantr, is a day spent in bed convulsing and suffering from withdrawl

When field 2 has been filled (is not empty), a [1] link next to the name could have the field's data as ALT text. The link itself could also direct to the character's description page, just like the link on the name itself does. If more text fields would be available for notes on characters they could be added as different links and ALT texts.
You see John [1] [2] take some potatoes.
(When hovering over [1] the additional description 'A man in his twenties, carpenter, friendly.' will appear as ALT text (if that feature isn't turned off in the browser's settings) and when hovering over [2] 'Pays 150 grams of smoked meat per 300 grams of wood.' appears.

I think this is too much work for ProgD for very little gain.
Why very little gain? Because you can write notes! I'm sure not every cantrian has a photographic memory, so why should they be able to know exactly what a person owes them just by looking at them.
Ok, so maybe you'd know what someone owes you up to an extent, but when the number of people gets up to like five or more, expecially if you havent seen a few of them in a long time, memory gets hazy.
Well to put it shortly - use notes, they're there for a reason.

Re: description
Let's just have it as described in the first post. Exept that
is wrong, it wouldn't make much sense to have half of the thing in small letters, and how would such be coded anyway? If the second box is empty, the whole thing would be visible and in one size of letters. There should be a JavaScript check that the first box isn't empty when the namer clicks submit (or change, or what ever it says there). Spaces would count as empty as well since you can't click on them. And the box should have a fixed length so that people cannot write more than the game can store. I'm just wondering if Mr Phoenix Cloud Strife etc etc would get to keep his name in just one box, or if the limit would force it to be divided into two boxes.
And Zanthos, people are already storing things in their "photographic memory" by writing them after the "name" and getting awfully long names. If you kept a note of every significant person you met, it would turn out to be quite a library. Not to mention there are things people in real life would see, but which are only passed through rp in Cantr, so for things like outlook (if the person has ever mentioned it), the second box would be ideal for storing the memory.

This doesn't sound like a very complex thing to implement and it would go well with the multiple signs design we have for buildings. It might also make those (*shiver*) copy-pasted reports of ingame events look a bit more realistic, if there were only names showing instead of "Name (owes me 1000 potatoes)" repeating on every event.
