That would be very appreciated as one of my chars is going to have a hard time communicating to the polish chars soon.

It seems, that there is some... improvised online course, (un)prepared by polish forumers.. ;)

Characters really should be picking up other languages in-game, not through the player learning the language...

It's 10X harder to pick the language up in the game when the other party can't emote in your language. How can I learn their word for salad if they can't even point to it and say the word?

I was responding to the other posts - seemingly suggesting that players should learn Polish so their characters can speak it (not vice versa).

I have no issue with the use of the wiki emotes, as they refer to physical actions, and we have no other way of expressing those in Cantr - they don't teach players nouns.

A thread started by....me! :D

I do agree that it needs to be roleplayed as much as possible, but it does take A LOT of work to try and figure out a language purely from immersion in Cantr. I would encourage players who are going to be dedicated to the roleplaying of the learning process to learn the language outside of the game.

I have been trying to pick up Polish solely through game for about a year now. Sure I could figure out the basic nouns and stuff, point repeat, mimc, yada yada yada, but as far as actually becoming functional in it, I haven't had the time to devote to reading through game logs enough to pick out the patterns I need. :)

You should be able to point at objects, that would make it much easier to teach each other languages in game!

Easy. Most of polish players knows at least basics of english. My polish chars meets with english chars three times, and it was a problems with "CRB poliglots" rather than with incomprehension. But offcourse as wichita wrotes some understanding of the language will help, so just use that thread in our part of forum :)

please, don't use Polish in your emotes, I'd like to polish my English, and if you use these bloody translators it's a crank version of Polish
<snake> that means Cantr on christmas xD
<EchoMan> Well. I would like to think so. ;)

I did that with a guy who spoke Swedish.

I dont get that line of thinking...when a english speaking player starts a english speaking character, does that character need to "learn" how to speak?
