How can I change locks?

Postby Gunny1723 » Sun Jan 25, 2004 3:16 am

I heard that you can break a look and rebuild one in its place, well it wont let me break this lock on a bike, but the Bike is Unlocked, is there anyway that it can be replaced????

Currently, if a lock is unlocked there is no way to change it, has to be locked to be breakable.

Not really, vehicles can't be moved into buildings yet, except for boats being inside harbours and landing stages.

Or find the person with the key, kill them, lock the bike, and then break the lock and build a new one, just in case someone had a copy.

Nah, being ruthless would be paying someone to kill the former owner and bring back everything then kill them and their associate who put you in touch with them, then killing their families....slowly

I see this as a flaw in the game. I have a char who owns a building, with an unlocked lock on it, and the key is no where. So, she has to build another building, just to store her stuff. That really sucks. :x

Perhaps some manner of locksmithing to produce keys to unlocked doors? It'd have to be difficult, in both chance and tools needed though.

Get me a good set of lockpicks and I could prolly figure out how to do it IRL...of course it should be very difficult to do in game, and possibly have a very secret process. Maybe not even tell what tools you need? That way there would be incentive for people to teach each other. Or for some jerk to break the CR and tell all their other CR-breaking jerk friends.
