I will admit that my current characters are the biggest thing keeping me here at the moment, but I think I am still interested enough to start all over with something new and a few changes to the game dynamics, free roaming included.
I would like to see it a bit more like Civ or in the fact that the player(s) defines where things get built based on the environment. I would also only limit myself to about 5 charries, I think.
But, I would still hate to give up my current batch of personalities. I feel like other people depend on some of them being there too much.

Yea, I know what you mean. I have a rather unhealthy attachment to another character myself! I guess I would come back eventually, but I'd take a nice, long, vacation first. Plus, I wouldn't want to be in the PD when everyone begins trying to reincarnate their old characters. I'd do it myself (if I kept playing after a reset), so I'd have to recuse myself from the department.
Maybe the best solution is to preserve the characters themselves but just reset everything else. It wouldn't hurt too much to allow everyone to keep their characters if they lost everything they had on them.
