If changing default name of things in some way is made possible when I think the forced actvieness is put in the right place. On the character that whant to change a buldings, locations... name.
I disagree. Before the amnesia, people didn't rename places because there wasn't a need and/or it would just be too much of a headache to constantly correct every newspawn who sees the original name automatically instead of the intended name.
I think that the first impression of an area's name is important. If I go to a location currently called Iraq, I don't want to be confused into calling it Mesopotamia. The original name no longer applies. The name that is current is accepted by the current people, and probably has some connotation or meaning. If a name is just given to us by Jos, it has no real meaning.
What's in a name? A lot more than you'd think. Forcing dynamic naming forces cantr to become a more interesting place, imo. Now people have reasons for their location names, and that ergo fleshes out more history and culture.
