I think some point is missing in this discussion, and it's that the 40-day rule is apply to the whole community of Cantr II, even to those like me who haven't heard about suicidal newspawns but only in forums.
Another point: How long a character is consider a "newspawn"? Until he/she reaches his/her 25 y.o.? How long it's a cantr's year? Twenty days in RL? So you think a character who has been playing 80 RL days, say, two whole months and a half, can be considered as a newspawn???
Here at the Spanish Zone, we can count with our fingers the characters that are over 40 y.o. And there aren't many who cross the thirties. I don't know the troubles English or Polish zone could have with their players, but I find it's a bit agressive to set a penalty -because let's assume it: the 40-day rule is a penalty- to a whole community when there's a localized problem that PD can investigate and work it out, even ban players if that's necessary.
I'm starting to think that those suicidal newspawns are just the "character number 15" of some old and experienced players, who are bored of playing Cantr in a constructive way, so they dedicate one slot to spread out the fury they have been accumulating during years.
Or there's another argument that can deny the premise: "Suicidal Newspawns generally appears in a zone with a large population and a large number of old inhabitants"?

Ahoyhoy wrote: Most new players make the same mistakes, it's hard to get into the Cantr world at first. Stealing and causing havok and what not is fun. A player should be banned for doing what most every person has done when they first started player Cantr.

Well, let's see. I have 15 characters. None of them has died yet. There are one or two over 25 y.o. None of them has ever had problems with the "law", simply because they do not steal. The exception is one of them, who has innocently taken some things at a Netherland's town and he was jailed. He spent some time in the dark repairing objects, and then he was set free, with a 70% of damage in his body. He's still living, working, collecting curative food. Trying to find a way out. But perhaps comes a bears which kills him, and then I will have to wait 40-days to create a new character. And... Why? He's not a "suicidal newspawn", he has been just a burglar who has paid his debt witht he community.

Ahoyhoy wrote:As for the rule of the person spawning in the same location, that is cruel to the guards and citizens, not to the player. The player i'm sure will be like I AM HARRY THE 2ND. I AM THE SON OF HARRY THE 1ST AND I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE. And then hit everyone and run away with the guards still on the road chasing the previous character.

That would be CRB -characters working on the same organization- so the player should be penalize by PD.

There are some bugs in this system. Other day I lost an older character and tried to make a new one and it told me that I recently had a young character die and couldn't make a new one for zero days. The man was almost sixty... hardly a young one. not sure if it is still like this or if anyone else noticed it.

The system sounds good in theory, but there are clearly some flaws as there will likely be some deaths that have nothing to do with players who just don't like where they are spawned or are clueless. People should be able to have the PD check out certain cases to allow them to create a new character if they die for those reasons.

william, please post your problem in the support forum where I have started a thread. I suspect there is something wrong with the character generator. I doubt the trouble-shooters will see your post here and this way we will have a list to show the programmers.

|william| The slot is probably not locked by that character but by another character under 25 who died in the past 40 days . The code has to be retrospective so that last 40 days of deaths are in effect .

If you want PM me with your player id and I'll confirm this

It is? Awesome! Got the two idiots from Zhift Forest after all then, I was kind of annoyed by it missing them by just a few days. :D
