My plan is to simulate the ecosystem, indeed ... have animals attack other animals (or chars) for food, so that if there are many wolves, they kill all rabbits, but when they're almost done, they starve from lack of rabbits, so the rabbits can grow, and then there's enough food for the wolves, so they start eating them again ..... that's how it normally works, no?

I liked the idea of betting on animal fights, and I think that could go hand-in-hand with animal domestication.
The animal ecosystem would be an OK implementation. I think there are definitely more pressing, more important suggestions (children, children, and children), but it would add more of a 'Welcome to the Jungle' flavor to the game. And who's to say that the lion about to rip you to shreds can't get randomly stomped on by an elephant?
Also, Doug R. pointed out something cool. Some of the breeding rates should be adjusted, mostly for the smaller animals. Raccoons, rabbits, and birdies are everywhere... but there are way more deer and horses in Cantr.
Unless, of course, Cantr birdies aren't RL birdies.
*takes some Ibuprofen... oh, the duality!*

Just like animals attack people, they could attack other animals aswell. With animal products to be dropped on the ground after a kill.
Isn`t implemented yet? Strange...

I, for one, think this is a good idea. It could keep rampant animal populations down, and would add more realism to the game. And plus, chars wouldn't have to kill to get bones and stuff, they could just pick up bones that the carnivores didn't eat. This does not mean that animals will only attack other animals, but people as well.
All of my endings are waiting to begin.

If the attacking is kept to a very low level then there shouldn't be mass extinction, while there should be the occasional pile of small bones for a newbie town to make bone knives/spears etc. Gradually the rate of attack could be increased to a desired level.
If you're really keen on preventing mass extinction, perhaps the animals can only attack when there's a herd of more then 4, or some other number.

This could also lead to a whole new area of gambling!
A man in his fiftys says: I'll put 50grams of iron on the lion!
A woman in her thirties says: 20grams of iron on the wolf!
You see a lion kill a wolf
A man in his fiftys says: I knew it! Pay up!
You see a woman in her thirties give some iron to a man in his fiftys
That'd be soo cool!
Unlikely ... but cool
