This game is about society experiments, I see Lad as one of the few original governments in the game and great fun to play in, its rigidness gives it culture and identity to the people.
I never said anything against social experiments, but they are experiments...this was a bad one. Sure it's good for the leaders and influential people, but most of my characters in Lad are the ones getting killed or imprisoned for doing nothing, stating an opinion, or incompetence by the authority. Some of you have never experienced this, which is why you don't understand why some of us dislike Lad...a lot
I have experienced it. I think you are drawing yourself far to much into it as well as giving your opinion to your characters.
Yes, if your character states an opinion that would go against the ideals of the Alexian Empire, your character will be silence one way or another.
Yes, the Alexian Empire makes mistakes which sometimes cost lives of those disloyal, neutral, or loyal. But doesn't that happen in all places?
The Alexian Empire either believes that you either serve the Empire or serve the dirt with yur corpse. That is the way of the society. If your character goes against those ideals then chances are they will die or suffer some other misfortuane. The characters who are in power believe in that Empire and the ideals and the players do a damn good job at role playing these characters. Just because a bunch of players have a fit about their characters being killed in the Alexian Empire doesn't mean that the players will change the personalities of their characters there nor change the ideals of the Empire which has lasted for over 20 Cantr Years. And to say that this is all a conspiracy by the older players to keep newbies from playing in the Alexian Empire is a bunch of bull. I know for a fact that I haven't conspired with other older players who have characters in the Alexian Empire. The fact of the matter is that in the Alexian Empire you need to work from the bottom to the top most of the times and if you have a characters that goes against those ideals of the Empire and the ruling faction in the Empire at the time most likely your character will be killed or silenced or kept down on the food chain for that reason. That is the society of the Empire. My character, Sester Gartaf, worked from the bottom to the top and came to the power he has today by conforming to the Empire. He just wasn't suddenly given power overnight. He began as a Private in the Imperial Guard during the days of Emperor Alexi Romanov and then moved up through the ranks and gained the respect of his superiors. He was also deeply loyal to the vision and ideals of the Empire though these days he has a differing vision than some of the High Imperial Officials and that has led to some conflict within the Imperial Court to even to come as far as accusation of betrayal from both sides. But that is a long story that has yet to resolve itself.
I also had a character die in Ladvicitavoi at the hands of the Empire. At the time, the character was one of favorites and after his death would become quite influential. He was Zak DoUrden, the founder of DoUrden Estates, and he said that he would kill Emperor Alexi Romanov if the Empire ever tried to take over his Estates thus leading to Zak's death. Since DoUrden Estates heard of Zak's death, Robert Smith, the current leader of the Estates, has led somewhat of a war against the Empire for revenge and has led to the slaughter of a number of Imperial Guardsmen in Xiria Forest of which one of my characters that works for DoUrden Estates was involved in. I also have another character that has currently joined a group of people set on destroying the Empire though he is doing because this group promised to help him do something in return for his aid. That was just to prove that I'm not just defending the Empire. Funny how I have have had or have three characters go against the Empire to my one character that supports the Empire and yet I never hear anyone say anything about them.
