I like Seko's variation of the idea, myself.

Yayyy I rule! :D

Anyways, maybe the simplest way would be to assign hit points to each part of the body, and when you run out of them, the area in question is disabled. If it happens to be vital, then you're dead. Although, we'd probably see people jumping around with one HP left and get healed as soon as they hit a pile of bananas. Talk about realism... I think one thing that makes Cantr cool is that if you die then there's no resurrection, and being wounded affects the speed you work on projects.

there should be killing daggers and the ability to do a one hit kill if you have very very very high weapons skill

For that you are going to need a very complicated skill system.

Neck - a small target partially protected by the person's jaw, direct hit very unlikely, misses hitting mostly chest, head, upper arms or missing totally.

Chest - large target but protected by the ribs, severe injuries only in rare cases when piercing the lungs or heart (in which case death should follow very rapidly); misses would mostly hit the arms, stomach or miss totally, in rare cases hitting the neck or head

Stomach - fairly large target, serious infections could be caused by stab wounds in the intestines and internal bleeding would cause raising damage; misses would mostly hit the arms and chest, thighs

Arms - fairly large targets, may be severed off totally but wounds there rarely cause death; missing strikes will mostly hit chest and stomach; if a person has most of their arms severed off, their carrying capacity should be lowered, they cannot use most tools and machinery (but no one ever answered to me wether the bellows in Cantr are hand or foot-operated), might be able to write notes and do other stuff with their toes...

Thighs (and pelvis?) - large target, chance of severe bleeding and rapid death in case of cutting the artery, otherwise a low risk area, missing hits would most likely hit the stomach or shins

Shins (and feet) - semi-small area, hard to hit because they're so low (unless the enemy is standing in higher ground or you're a midget), low risk, may be severed off in which case the person cannot leave the area; crutches, wooden legs

I like it

Now if only we had canons.....

1345 1You see a man in his twentys head get blown of by Note Thef

lol, but I did like your earlier ideas about having the amount you can carry decrease if you get hit in the arms or legs.

Of course how I picture this idea, and how it would practically be implemented are two separate things altogether.
*has a vision of the future*
Yeah, this might be one of those things that we whine and whine and whine until it's implemented, and then as soon as it is, whine and whine and whine until they change it.

That is pretty much how I see it happening, pretty much overnight ever character in the game will get hamstringed by a thief who then runs away, faster than his pursuers.

It wont be like that, you'd have to be a skilled fighter at least be have the chance to hamstring someone, otherwise it's just a normal attack.
