There should have been a poll on this, it would have been interesting to have seen the results, i for one would have voted no no no no and no!

At least two of my characters now save nothing with a shield. If you hit them, I will save 0 percent.

Yeah, this is real good isn't it. I have NO form of protection with the highest valued shield around.

I think weapon damage should have been increased, and shields left the same.

I don't think any change needed to be made. Everyone was slowly adapting to weapon skill, whereby one character hits for 60 with a crossbow, and another 5. Now, the weak still can't hit the strong, and the strong do even more damage to the weak.

Balancing? It's about as balanced as the CAP...

Wow, one if my characters saves 2 percent!

Woo! That makes him officially stronger than nearly half my characters!

EDIT: A detailed list of my characters defensive prowess. (all details given for iron shields. I didn't even want to check how bad they were with wooden or bone ones...)

Surly how do you know what all of your characters stats are for damage? Do you have all bad characters? :D

A few of those may be guesses... but they guesses based on what they saved before the change, and the change in other characters.

For instance, one of my characters used to save 41 percent and now save 27 percent. Therefore I reasoned my character who used to save 42 percent would now save 28.

They have all been attacked at some point... and if you see a character attacking himself right now, that is likely my character...

And yes, apparently I have all bad characters. A fact I have raised before. I thought one of two of them might be good, but in comparison to others...

Well, at least they all have shields. If it was not for the four day rule I would be telling you about my new spawn who has no shield and who is having a hard time with 'old' spawns.

Hmm... how is it good for 5 of my characters? They might as well sell their iron shields, they'd save as much without them.

WHICH IS NOTHING!!!

Can anyone tell me exactly what kind of balance this is supposed to bring to the game? Making it so our characters die easier.. I fail to see how that balanaces anything. I dont know maybe you answered already, but answer for me again would you, what balance exactly is this supposed to bring?

Oh, but you see they've got us now. Bring up all the valid points you want and they can just blow off your entire argument with condescending crap like "Oh gee that's too bad about your characters, but people die all the time you know, that's realism for you, think of all those wasted hours of your life as a small sacrifice you can make in the interests of balancing the game."

As if a change like this has anything to do with realism or balance. It's all about laziness, as far as I can tell...can't be bothered to balance skills so just take the easy way out and nerf the shields, and can't be bothered to even make up an explanation as to why it was done so just act like any players who complain are just being petty and only concerned about their own personal characters, even though it's everyone's characters and the game itself that's being hurt by this. Without us having any say or being warned in advance, of course.

And I doubt we'll ever get an actual explanation, though hopefully at some point in the future enough members of the staff will get over their egos enough to admit they screwed up and try to undo the damage, just like what's happening with repair rates now. (Of course it'll be too late for any characters lost, but that's a "society simulator" for you all right - the study of how communities adapt to massive and poorly thought out OOC changes abruptly forced on them at frequent intervals.)
