Well, I think I now have the luckest richest characters out of all my characters. (You guys probably had richer, but I haven't seen one yet.)

(Not saying who it is cause I don't trust the greedy :P )

Anyways the list is to long to show what the character has but here is an estimate of some, but not nearly all: over 18,000 (had more) grams of iron, almost every tool in the game, enough food to feed the whole KDS island for years, tons of weapons, shields, and steel!

The thing that made me feel lucky and dig this topic back up is because I just found an abandoned boat filled with more. :D I didn't think I would ever be able to make a Soarer full, but I did! I couldn't even get in without dropping some things on the other boat. Well, I'm going to enjoy my new found wealth with my charrie. Bye.

the luckiest I've gotten is a town leader died and I was the only one around awake. and as for bandits, there are a few organized ones, but mostly its just newspawns who grab and run, sometimes sticking out their tongue or something like that. as for the Bandits, there is a group who I think greatly inproved the rp in their area, even for all the crap they brought. I have a few chars who don't like the law, but they are mostly off the center line if you will, but 2 have a fairly good following

One of my characters happened to step in after the previous leader had died and got all the keys and lots of tools, resources, a good load of longbows, bone knives, loincloths, stuff like that. Started refounding the town, dealing out that stuff to new citizens. Then went on a resource run for a few years and I'll be damned, some blasted pirates killed almost everybody and looted most of the storage. But they forgot a load of hemp so hah, we're making fine quality hemp clothes. Never underestimate the power of a uniform.

And there's another topic like this but since this one was started before that other one then nevermind, my bad.

Yes! Please do. That's what more rich characters should be doing. I don't think they were every meant to sit there and repair their items by hand. Grunt work is for the peons.

(But do the economy a favor in pay them in something besides potatoes, alright?)

Hey, I'm looking for it to happen Seko. LOL Everytime I show someone our list of things for trade I quiver that they will lock me up and break into my ship!

@ Lumin,

The character pay in any resource you want since I have lots, but most people want iron.

I don't know about that - I bet you could easily find four newspawns willing to work for those longbows. The only problem is you might have to worry about them running off or ganging up on you with the more advanced weapons they're repairing...

LOL Good thinking, but I start the projects. They end up in my inventory then get stored back on the ship. :)

Not true. In Akypor Forest South, Francesca distributed almost all of real worth that she inherited. The result? A Commune of 28 members spread over two towns, soon to be more, many of the seniors being armed with in total 2 crossbows, 1 battle-axe, 1 claymore, 3 other good bladed weapons, 8 compound bows and numerous recurves and longbows. Also in total 4 crowbars now. And about 10 members have apartments and the iron to lock them, produced in regular distributions. These locks are private and Fran doesn't ask for keys.

So her commune members could bump off Fran in an hour or less, but they don't want to. Why not? Well, they are loyal to the Commune, where they see progress happening, and don't particularly want to shoulder the burden of the admin involved.

Result? We have just had our first death of a member since the server change, now 5 in total since the Commune was founded over 200 days ago, and only one other member has ever run away.

The challenge of the game, as I've said before, is to try and build new social orders, and that includes the idea that what you serve is greater than any one individual. After all, the Gregarach could also bump off Lord Gregor, not so? But they wouldn't want to for the same reason.

The above challenge isn't easy to meet. Even Comrade Fran I regard as only partly successful. But the new tiredness, skills and repairs systems mean that large social structures are now the source of power.

Nowadays "luck" is not necessarily a hoard of stuff so much as a community of people. The trick is to leverage the former into the latter.

Well, you're right about that, though in this case I was talking more about newspawns, not established characters with loyalties and relationships.

True. The nice thing about New Xanth is that a little group had already formed close loyalties under what were really conditions of extreme poverty in the early days, and so they became the core of the new commune. Yes, trusted people are worth more than anything else.
