Not true. In Akypor Forest South, Francesca distributed almost all of real worth that she inherited. The result? A Commune of 28 members spread over two towns, soon to be more, many of the seniors being armed with in total 2 crossbows, 1 battle-axe, 1 claymore, 3 other good bladed weapons, 8 compound bows and numerous recurves and longbows. Also in total 4 crowbars now. And about 10 members have apartments and the iron to lock them, produced in regular distributions. These locks are private and Fran doesn't ask for keys.
So her commune members could bump off Fran in an hour or less, but they don't want to. Why not? Well, they are loyal to the Commune, where they see progress happening, and don't particularly want to shoulder the burden of the admin involved.
Result? We have just had our first death of a member since the server change, now 5 in total since the Commune was founded over 200 days ago, and only one other member has ever run away.
The challenge of the game, as I've said before, is to try and build new social orders, and that includes the idea that what you serve is greater than any one individual. After all, the Gregarach could also bump off Lord Gregor, not so? But they wouldn't want to for the same reason.
The above challenge isn't easy to meet. Even Comrade Fran I regard as only partly successful. But the new tiredness, skills and repairs systems mean that large social structures are now the source of power.
Nowadays "luck" is not necessarily a hoard of stuff so much as a community of people. The trick is to leverage the former into the latter.
