The members of the GAC and player's department are the one's who process the applications. These are done frequently throughout each day, depending on availability of staff, of course. It is unusual for an application to take a full day to be dealt with, unless there is a possible problem with it.

If your friend didn't receive a confirmation (or rejection), then he should resubmit. It must have been lost in cyberland somehow.

the only problum I have with recuiting friends is this:

once you get them playing, you cannot have your charactures interact with their charactures because it is a CRB. to the letter of that law. If i go over to a freinds house to hang out, and check my charactures, and they check their charactures, the PD notes the ISP and realizes we play together, and thus they know that we are friends, and therefore, our charactures cannot interact because its a CRB. Lets not even get into how complicated it gets if multiple people in the house play the game. *eyes roll*

now where is the fun in a RPG if you cannot interact with your friends charactures? If you have lets say... 4 friends, all into the game, that makes 5 accounts(including your own) each account with 15 charrys... 15x5= 75

75 charactures that cannot interact, trade info, trade goods or even theoratically be in the same town. are there even 75 english speaking Cantr centers of population???? I dont count the ghost towns, empty locations etc....

next lets toss in the random spawing process. you got 15 charrys spawned. 4 on the K island, 3 on the aki continent, 3 in KDS, 2 in olip and 3 in dory.... well, guess what, all your friends got that too, with variations on the exact numbers. and a few random locations get spit out like Lad or Cantr city... you know, the usual spots.

just spawning has become a CRB.

I have a roomie and a local friend who plays. thats enough friends playing for me. anymore and I couldnt have charrys anywhere without the PD complaining, because I do go and visit my friend, and n the course of the evening we do check our charrys on her computer.

oh, and I almost forgot to add to this psycho pixie bitching fest....

most of my friends want a real rpg, where we interact and play and show emotion and make the charrys behave just like a normal human... lately, this game is becoming more and more a tactical game and I don't think they want to play that. If they want tactical they wil go pay for starwars galaxies or something. not play a format like this. This format is not for tactical games, its for building a society. societies include emotion, crazy people, people with physical ailment like deafness and blindness. the recent rule discussion about making those things im-proper hurts the society building idea on a whole.

ok. I think I have gotten the bee out of my bonnet.

Interaction with your friends' characters is not a CRB; interacting with them in ways that you wouldn't interact with them if you didn't know that your friends played them is.

That's why lots of people are against telling who their characters are, because they don't want to know whether they're playing with a char of their friends' or their hypothetical worst (cantr) enemy.

Once you know who plays a character, it's hard not to tint your interactions with them accordingly, even subconsciously. This has happened throughout cantr history, for better or for worse. Example: The early days of the Lad. Empire, or the Mac Gregors, or wherever.

Several times one of my characters has begun working with another, only to find out that I've got a character working with another one of that player's characters already. Example: One of my characters was an employer of Maynard Leeward's. One of my other characters employed a character that, I found out, was also played by the person who played Maynard. It was very hard not to let that affect my gameplay, even subconsciously.

I think I'm coming to the conclusion that, although knowing who plays who can be fun sometimes, I'd rather do without it.

There's a level of mystery that's taken away when you know your enemies' player or your best friend's player.

Yeah, you sometimes decide, "Oh, I can trust this person because my friend XXXXX is the player" and you can discuss the ramifications of certain events outside the game, which is fascinating (my cousin and I used to do it for hours, to the exasperation of our family), but it swings the other way too.

I've heard instances of every one of a player's characters disliking every one of another player's characters because they knew who played them. Maybe it was subconscious, maybe not, but either way, it wasn't cool.

Yeah, I've allowed my knowledge of who played who to affect my judgement, and it sucks. It's almost impossible not to let it, at some level.

So yeah. As cool as it is discussing this sort of thing, I'm getting a bit tired of it.

Blah.

A friend of mine convinced me to play, without sitting and explaining, but when i got a friend to try he got bored and let his characters starve and stuff.... i gave up... none of my friends who didn't already play wanted to play.

Yeah out of 10 accounts I think I convinced people to make, my success rate has only achieved one. :(

This is true, I agree, but a fine line depending. If it is planned, just because it's your friends char, then yes, it is against the rules. But I rp with chars of my friends (though they only became friends because of this game), and we're not breaking any rules, as these chars have naturally come to know each other in game, and for only these characters reasons.

The intent is not in any way to make the game more tactical, and less "real" for the chars, as you describe. We have only tried to make clear those things which are not allowed to be rp'd, such as objects that don't exist, but could be programmed in sometime in the future. The level of rp interactions your chars have in game is completely up to you. I, for one, am a player who likes the type of format you are talking about, and I engage in that type of rp with all my chars. I wouldn't play the game if I couldn't. Cantr, to me, is more about developing relationships, whether they be for love, business, government, or whatever.

I had the brilliant idea to strategically place flyers around my campus in places where people who would probably enjoy Cantr might congregate. I believe this might be called marketing...but I'm not so sure. I study science.

Has anyone put together a cool flyer that describes the game well and also manages to catch the eye? I know the Colonol and others can crank out some pretty cool graphics from time to time. Maybe one would work well for this project.

My idea was to target the social science areas, trying to get sociologists, psych majors, and historians who would tend to be interested in a society simulator concept. Computer labs would also be good targets, I would think. Plus, Purdue has a fairly active roleplaying society from what I've heard that would probably be drawn to the game.

Anyone care to share thoughts, comments, success stories, and testimonials?

everyone we meet about this game. I know I have asked everyone where i work if they would join. its beginning to get on their nerves right now. maybe they will crack soon.

One guy cant do this alone. I have seen many uninhabited lands that need more people in them. I post a flyer in the break room every day and they rip it down every day and i put another back up.

Let go and get them to join.

*runs down the hall putting guns to everyones head telling them if they dont want the world to blow up then join Cantr

Nice  . I advertise cantr all the time :P

That might be true... But I'm a factory electrician who's job involves running pipe, pulling wire, reading blueprints and troubleshooting.

I love this game because it is the opposite to what I do and thus is quite relaxing. Flyers should be placed randomly... You never know who needs this game to fill in a creative gap in thier lives.

That is a very good point. I agree 100% about placing the flyers in random places.

Very good idea :) ... In fact, this was suggested to players a while ago, and some people were quite succesful. I think this thread was based on that suggestion. I should repeat it sometime.

Here's the English-language poster we used. If you or Colonel wants to develop a better version, please don't hesitate:

That is awesome. I don't think you would want it clustered with pictures because that would take the person's attention away from what is important. I think this flyer right here would work very well. It gets you very curious.

Thanks, Jos! I knew someone had put something together!

I'll also hit up some random locations too. :D

You might want to consider printing it on coloured paper ... :)
