Insane Repair Rates

Postby Anthony Roberts » Tue Jul 19, 2005 3:44 am

Because ONE PARTICULAR INDIVIDUAL ruined the surprize with her CAPITALIZED BULLCRAP, I decided I would let you all in on a little secret.

By the way, the capitalized bullcrap, that was a joke. Hahaha, let's all laugh now.

Anyway, we're discussing the repair rates, being insane high, and the fact that tools degrade insane quickly. Comon, I'm sure you've all repaired a bow twice...

Just to inform you all, this is an issue we are looking into - top priority. Because, honestly, our OWN characters suffer from this too, you know, so we want to get it fixed ASAP.

The reason for this thread: I don't want anymore whining and complaining.

At least you're posting the "we're working on it" along with the "stop complaining"

You mean somebody is not only acknowledging there's a problem but also letting us know that you're fixing the problem?

First the wiki, and now actual communication with the players, I'm beginning to think the staff have all been snatched away by aliens and replaced by cybernetic clones. (And I think I prefer the clones... :D )

Seriously though, this is great news, and thanks for sharing it!

*begins plans for a CAPITALIZED BULLCRAP campaign of her own*

Clearly the difference between action and inaction is the injudicious use of the caps lock key

:D Thank you, Anthony. They weren't caps they were just very large letters. I think you guys might need prescription magnifying glasses 'cause you didn't seem to be able to see us asking nicely in the itty bitty print.

Communication, me like. *kissie face*

No, it's moreso because I hang out in the Suggestions board, not-so-much in General Discussion, so I really don't care what is said or goes on in there.

I believe it was mentioned many times in suggestions, even had at least one thread. But, whatever, I don't care. Thank you for letting us know.

Well, I for one would like to know if the insane repair rates are uniformly acknowledged as a problem by all staff, or not. Because, you know, there have been staff members who have basically said "they're not changing, so there." Which is, as you know, an attitude or declaration that does not bode well for the players.

My answer: "I'm the damn chairman, and I've made an authoritive decision to correct these values."

So there. We're in a... mostly uniform vote... the oddball out, of course, as always. Kinda like Nick. Umhmm.

And it may have been mentioned in Suggestions, but it's gotta have it's own thread for merrit. If it's in a thread about something suggested before, a thread created by an annoying little shit, or something along those lines, don't expect it to be looked at, or read in its entirety. At least by me, anyway, others might read it, that's up to them, and they'd have their own reasons for not seeing it, or if they did, saying nothing. Who knows, you all know now, so stop whining :P

Yeah, I know you're not, I'm just being a prick.

I think everyone just gave up on getting a response. Except me, of course.

Merry Xmas in July!

Jetlag wrote: I have a character going through a big stack of old tools repairing them, and I've noticed that some of them, eg my used bone knife, take longer to repair than to make new ones. This doesn't really make sense. Is it supposed to be like this?

(from the thread Kinvoya just pointed to.)

I hate to say it, but this thread doesn't seem to address Jetlag's original question, which is a bigger issue than rapid deterioration, IMO. I agree that bows deteriorate too rapidly, but at least bows take less time to repair than to make (If you take account of time spent making the components) . Many things don't. One of my characters is going spare because she knows that it's often much more cost-effective to just let the tools rot, then make new tools, but her staff will keep on helfpully starting repair projects. And then they can't be cancelled and the tool can't be used; so it's then a case of either repair the damned thing, anyway, or lose it prematurely. Thus repairs have only added to the cost of running the business

Now how come I have posted countless times about this and never got anywhere... I even laid out how with minor changes everything would be fine... and I get no where.

Yet, capitalisation on one post does it?

Oh yes, I remember now. Staff ignore my posts...
