A Mathematical Proof

Postby wichita » Tue Jul 12, 2005 3:43 am

I was reminded today of this mathematical proof, posted in the School of Business by the Engineering students at Wichita State.

Start with the defintion of power obtained from classical Newtonian mechanics:

Power = Work / Time

And introducing the common maxims from colloquial English:

Knowledge = Power
Time = Money

Transformation of the power equation into a colloquial basis set gives us:

Knowledge = Work / Money

Therefore, if we solve the equation for Money, and observe it as a function of Knowledge, holding Work constant, we get:

Money = Work / Knowledge

Therefore it is mathematically proven that income is inversely proportional to knowledge.

If you understand this post, I will enjoy your company in the office. If you are confused...have fun running your fortune 500 company or throwing whatever funny shaped ball you prefer. :D

I like it. It makes sense on so many levels. It is also similar to the proof that women are evil, which I sure you have all seen before.

Oh, she's offended. Get the extinguisher!

Anyway.

I have my OWN calculations, as I see math a different way.

As stated by our great "Schoolhouse Rock", derived from our western culture, Knowledge is Power.

Knowledge = Power

But, we must also realise, that Power itself is derived from wealth, as the most powerfull people are very rich!

Power = Money

Therefore, in conclusion...

Knowledge = Money

See, I simplified it. Now all of us know the meaning of life. And no, it's not 42.

If that's true then why are college professors and librarians usually not rich?

Because they don't apply their knowledge to a job worthwile for their intelligence, of course!

And therefore, your simplification is erroneous, because you are leaving out key variables.

Obviously, then, my knowledge is so low, my money will be low as well.

HMM?
