Melting/Recycling
so i've read the suggestions list, because it's the moral, ethical thing to do.
no suggestions about this pretty cool idea my brother had. he and i have been playing Cantr (responsibly) for about a year now.
now that some of our chars are moving up in the world and getting contact with things like iron, steel, and gold, we thought it would be cool if there was some way to disassemble say, a saber, melt down the blade, and use the resulting steel on say, a bike.
now, we talked to our metallurgical engineer father about this, and he says that melting down the steel would actually take less energy (coal, propane, etc.) than forging it in the first place, but you lose about 3% of the steel you started with. this applies to iron, gold, silver, all that cool metally stuff.
then we figured that it might be fun to apply this concept to other resources, such as wood and possibly stone.

This has been discussed, at least insofar as breaking down unfinished PROJECTS for resources, like getting the 4g of stone back from a building project called I WILL KILL YOU ALL.
Or supposing you started a project without realizing there was no ***** on the island to finish it with, you could disassemble it and build something more useful in the meantime.
But I agree, the ability to melt down objects would be kind of cool. I know I'd use it on a lot of my rotting tools in the back room.

You know, ive actually thougt about this. cool idea.
hey, why do we have to only have steel, or metal items do this? come on? have you ever had a longbow in the woods, but wanted to make a recurve bow, and you don't have any cotton?

Suggestions lists promptly updated with the three other topics on this subject...
Thanks for reading it though - few people do... But a search never goes amiss - there is hardly anything that hasn't been suggested before...
Not gonna lock it, however, as 1) that'd be unfair - I didn't lock pie's post on random resources, or Nick's on cremation and 2) my computer is too slow for me to bother - which is also the two above mentioned posts survived.
Fear my return to locking come september - this suggestions forum will be kept in check!
for now - feel free to repeat exactly the same discussion that happened in the other threads - because you all know that's what's gonna happen. Except now, we also have pie to ignore

This idea is good but I see how it can also be quite irritating.
Like if someone went around and started taking everything apart, Some people would'nt be happy.
But the melting of weapons would be a great idea.

And I begged her give me horses
To trample down my enemy
So eager was my passion
To devour this waste of life
But she would not think of battle that
Reduces men to animals
So easy to begin
And yet impossible to end

Melting something is a good idea, recykling always was a good thing
But recovering resources from unfinished projects? No! That is something completely different, do not atempt to link it with melting ok?
