Something I've been working on

Postby rklenseth » Wed Jul 06, 2005 7:20 pm

I've been working on story that I'm hoping to turn into a script that could be made into a movie someday. I've been working on this with a friend for the past year and a half. I just wanted to get some feedback from some of you guys.

Setting: Small town in Upstate New York surrounded by a vast wilderness.

Characters: Persephone "Perry" Fillion - She is an investigative reporter for a local TV station in the small city near the town. Her father was a detective that was murdered when she was only a kid. Her father's murder has never been solved. She had always wanted to be a detective but because of her father's murder her mother pushed her away from that career. She often has nightmares about her father's murder. She also has recently has "visions" of another murder in a small town near the city she works at. She believes her visions are real and can solve the murders.
Sidney "Sid" Johnston - He is the local county detective. When he was a kid his younger sister disappeared as well as a many other people have in the small town. None of the disappearances including he sister's where ever solved. His parents died in a mysterious car crash a few days after his sister disappeared. He was then raised by a local farmer who was a friend of the family. He then worked his way to detective and made it his life quest to solve his sister's disappearance. Years of looking for clues and coming up with nothing has made him cynical and not a very nice man to be with. He is a man that has given up hope.
"Crazy Maury" Maureen - Old hermit that lives out in the middle of the wilderness. Considered harmless and someone to seek out for any information about the wilderness. In the end we find out that she is the murderer and possibily behind the disappearances.
Sheriff - Doesn't believe the couple were murdered (see plot). He believes it is just another group of kids who get lost in the woods and are never found again.

Plot: Engaged couple disappear in the wilderness. Perry has visions of their murder. She finds where the couple were last at and it is in a small town nearby that is notorious for mysterious, unsolved disappearances. She goes to this town to investigate, for herself, and for a story for the news station she is watching. While investigating, she meets Sid who isn't too happy that a reporter is sticking her nose into their affairs but when her visions begin leading them somewhere and eventually to the bodies of the murdered couple. While investigating this Perry and Sid are watched and chased by something in the woods that seems intent on killing them. They seek help from a old hermit in the woods named "Crazy Maury". It turns out later that it is Maury that murdered the couple and in the end Sid and the old lady (who seems more powerful than she looks) duke it out with a hatchet and axe duel. After Sid kills Maury, the Sheriff and his deputies arrive. But when they go to recover Maury's body, the body is gone. Perry returns to the city while Sid stays to investigate. While going over Maury's cabin he comes across an old picture of Maury and the Sheriff standing together. He sees something out of the corner of his eye in the woods and goes after it. A gun is pointed at him, and he says surprisingly "It's you?" And then the gun fires and we see Perry wake up in sudden terror. End movie.

So tell me what you thing. I have about 1/3rd of the script written so far.

Now this would be the first movie of at least three. In the second movie we would know who shot Sid and what happens to him. The third movie would tie up all the loose string with mysterious forest, disappearances, what is chasing them in the forest, and more stuff that would come to light in the second movie. I would also like to explore Perry and her father's movie which could be another movie or two.

That definitely sounds like an interesting thriller type movie or something... do have a way of getting this made?
