Glass Display Case

Postby Talapus » Wed Jun 22, 2005 6:39 am

There should be a 'glass display case' which is a lockable storage container that displays items and materials inside of them on the objects listing outside of the case. Made from lots of window glass and some iron. This would allow shopkeepers to display their wares for sale without undue risk of them being stolen.

Could be broken with a stone hammer or any club. Not worth the trouble in Cantr.

well, you could put mettle bars under the glass. or just have mettle bars. those could break, but it would take a while. i actually like the idea.

Worth some thought, me thinks.

I would like it if it can't easily be destroyed by basic tools.

First we need them to implement the ability to put objects inside of things though. :)

Um... as far as I know, Cantr glass cannot be broken. *shrugs*

I think this is a brilliant idea.

Missy, that already exists. I.E. For containers.

And yes, Cantr runs on different physics. Let's just have it with a lock that needs to be broken into by the tool that breaks locks.

This is very similar to the case for holding notes that was discussed a while back. I really, really want that for libraries. If it can only be built indoors I can live with that although it would be good to have for the ground notes as well.

Please, please, Powers That Be, make this possible. I promise to be good if you do. (At least for a set period of time. Not forever, obviously. Let's be real.)

You can't put guns inside of them though. (As far as I know..) You can't put things like tools, clothes or weapons into containers of any sort.

Yeah, resources and objects are two different kettles of fish. Or rather, one's the fish and the other is the kettle.

Also, Missy, Saladfingers gave me nightmares.

I'd like to see item storage containers any time, so one can store hammers and the like in a box, or the UPS postal box for delivering things, stuff like that. Nice idea.

Why are we talking about Saladfingers and his lust for rust? This is about a suggestion!

Two reasons why this can not be implemented:

1) As Missy had stated, objects can not be placed into containers. (An object is not counted in grams. An object would be like, a screwdriver, a hemp hat, or your iron shield. Resources, can, however be placed in containers. Resources are items that contain 'grams'. Like potatoes, rice, and carrots.)

2) It is not possible to lock a container or machine, or place a lock on such devices. However, we're obviously aware how much it's both wanted and required.

i have to object to this. tools are indeed counted in grams. if i am carrying 100 grams, i could be carying a lot of defferent recorces, or a bone knife.

Allow me to put it this way.

Being the Resource Departments Chairman, I very much know what I'm talking about, and you do not. Thank you :)

To CLARIFY then, as per your objection, tools have a weight, so that you can't carry unlimited objects. However, tools are not a resource, COUNTED in grams. Yes, they were originally so many grams of bones, and the knife weighs the same as its building materials, but it's no longer a resource, it is an object, and can not be placed into a container.

How is this so? Do you SEE a "Put in container" button near tools? No. Only near containers.

whether they are ore not, what tools or objects do you think couldnt fit in a display case?you can fit almost anything you can carry in a display case. you really should let people put tools in any container they want. just use the system that you use for the weight when carying. if the weight is to much, then they cant put it in. but if it is not, then it goes in. unless you make a system to make stuf have sertan dementions, you have no argument against display cases, or putting stuf into containers.
