Throwing stars!

WOW. They sound cooler than I expect them to be, but perhaps this is the beginning of ammo? We shall see.... in .4 days!

I'm guessing they're like a boomerang. But I could be wrong.

It is part of an atlatl, not a weapon or ammo in itself.

If we're not allowed to use OOC concepts in game, why is it an APACHE throwing star? I don't recall the Apaches ever using throwing stars, nor do I know why (RKL, possibly?) felt it necessary to include the name Apache in the object name; after all, there's no Indian bagh-nakh or Scottish Claymore in game, is there? We leave the ethnic background out even though the OOC influence on those weapons is obvious. Why are "Apache" throwing stars any different?

Although I recognize that Apache throwing stars differed from shuriken, I think the fact that it requires wood and not metal is a big enough distinction. Or you could change the name to their more common one, "throwing sticks". Although that doesn't necessarily inspire the proper dread.

"Really Wicked Looking and So Fiendishly Sharp That They Would Probably Put Your Eye Out Throwing Sticks"?

My chars would definitely freeze like a trembly little bunny if they saw one of your bad, bad boys carrying those.

Because there is a difference between an Apache Throwing Star and a Oriental Throwing Star. And yes, Apache's did use a throwing star except it wasn't anything like what Oriental people used. Two totally different things.

And if you ever take a wilderness survivial course, this is one of the first things they will teach you because it is primitive, easy to make, and is deadly in the right hands.

I mean, you COULD have read what I posted, but I guess that'd just have been too much effort.

I agree that throwing sticks would be more accurate. Or maybe Throwing cross rather than star. (Its what we were told when using them).
