Building Descriptions

Postby Surly » Wed Jun 22, 2005 1:13 am

Quite simple. A description, saying "this is a mud hut" or "this is a stone hall".

Just so I know how big the damn things are. This is SO ANNOYING!

*ahem*

Anyway, simple request. Please...? :(

Even if its just a little eye thing like on dead bodies... Just something. It is quite unrealistic that you can't tell the difference between a hall and a hut once they are built...

Some people...

:P

Anyway, if you can do it for bodies (which is great by the way) could you do it for buildings? Pretty please?

Exactly, so that when you use a building for a jail and go to throw someone in, then go yourself and all of a sudden you cant get in and they cant get out.. puts a damper on the whole situation..

YES, and then we could have other descriptions too, like if there's a nameplate or plaque on the building (or a word scribbled in the mud), it'd show up in the description as well, CLEARING THE WAY FOR A DYNAMIC BUILDING NAME ERASE

BWA HA HA HA HA...

...also we could do it for tools and weapons, and have their condition (and maybe inscription) visible via the eye icon rather than right on the objects page.

Come to think of it, "a brand new longbow" that's just replaced a crumbling one borders on the unlikely. Should really be "well-maintained"--things ought to only be able to be "brand new" once.

No, that would take up to much database space.

Why not the same as with vehicles? In orange the (editable) name and behind that in white and between brackets the type of building?

The building type should only be displayed in the buildings list, not in the events ("You see a man in his twenties entering....."), which I suppose is possible from a programmer's point of view. Doesn't the same happen when vehicles occur in events? ("You see [vehicle name] enter....")

Now that a response I like to hear... :P

Note: (its already implemented, isn't it? Unfortunately a little bit late for me though... :( )

Indeed, it is.

But seeing "building" or "cottage" that often makes me utter the wish for more different building types, preferably made from purely stone or wood. Simply to create some diversity in Cantrian architecture.
