Oh don't worry. I already read that. And besides I only have one character.

There is the 4 day rule in there as well that you should fimiliarize yourself with. Not saying that you're breaking it... but it's good to know
You can still break the CR with just one charrie.

Am I currently a citizen for any city? Or does one have to apply for citizenship?

If the town your in requires for you to apply for citizenship then you'd of course have to apply for it.

You'll have to look at the notes in your surrounding as well. Thats often a good piece of advice. :)

Every town is different since each is run by it's residents who determine their own laws.

Finding things out in game and in char is one of the funnest parts of Cantr, I think, so don't go looking for too many answers on the forum. You'll never get the chance to experience things like this again. Just go slow and enjoy each new discovery.

Don't be afraid to talk to other chars in game and in character to get info. They might not answer right away and you might have to ask more than once if they haven't answered within a day or so.

:D Welcome to your new addiction.

I have two major pieces of advice for any new players. The first is to be patient. It's been mentioned in a couple of the other posts, but I think it's worth repeating. This game is played by people across the world in pretty much every time zone. People are also limited to 200 minutes per day, which seems a lot when you've only got one new character. A lot of people have anything up to fifteen well established, busy characters, so they don't always get a lot of time for each one. Also, real life gets in the way sometimes. If a character doesn't respond, it may be that the player had a really busy day and just didn't get a chance to log in.

The second piece of advice is to realise that this game is different from every other rpg out there on the internet. The point of most of them is to beat up monsters (or other characters) in order to get stat points and better weapons and beat up harder monsters. The point of this game is to immerse yourself in a different world and live the life of your character - it really is about the roleplay.

Feel free to ask OOC questions here (like "what does this button do?") and make sure you ask IC questions in the game (like "where can I get food?"). I hope you have a good time in Cantr.

That running around killing monsters thing is boring for me. That's why I decided to try out this game. And from the looks of it, it seems to have a lot of freedom and seems like it has a lot of depth.

Depth it's got.

No other game has ever been able to captivate me as long or as thoroughly as cantr has. 3 years, so far.

Welcome, and may you soon be an 'oldbie'.

Are we this nice to everyone? Or has someone let some gas of in the forum?

We're this nice to people who are nice and haven't said anything terribly stupid yet

And when they do we pounce and never let them forget it?

*BUZZ* Wrong. There are roleplay forums all over the place, that are probably a better place than Cantr. Cantr is about simulating society, and over time, you learn how events can change how life is lead in some towns, differently than other towns and cultures. THAT is what makes Cantr unique. It's a society simulator.

Yes, but roleplay is a part of cantr. Integral in fact, because we are taking on the roles of people who are creating simulated societies. So he's not wrong.

We all probably don't play cantr for the same reasons...

Well in what separates it from other games, roleplay is not what I'd consider "the point".
