Now, you can download any IRC client (or use any one that might be installed in your computer already). You'll need to put the server, port, and channel information into the Connect settings. I think you also need to connect to a network-- is Cantr on Undernet or something else, west?
No, it was never java-based. There was a java CLIENT we used to connect to it, but the chat itself wasn't java, but IRC. In any case, we recently moved from dalnet to gnug.org.
How to connect:
1. Open your IRC client (mIRC, Chatzilla, Opera, etc.)
2. Go to whatever the "connect" menu is (depends on client; could also be "chat accounts" or just "chat")
3. information you will need:
server: irc.gnug.org
port: 6667 (usually)
channel: #cantr
the rest you ought to be able to do on your own.
I think.
