Well making it easier to hit with fists doesn't make wars more likely in my opinion. Just makes bigger brawls.

Why don't it make war more possible? Because if one of those 12 people punch one citizen, and it happens to do ten % dammage? Thats just that much more healing food they'll have to farm, that much more time they'll have to spend healing from some senseless attack rather than preparing for a real war like they would have been if there hadn't been that senseless attack. No?
I hate people.

how much of an effort is it going to take to get a band of ten people in line.
keeping in mind a large town in mind. even if they kill someone before they are caught, wont it make things close to reallity.besides, most towns have town guards so i dont think a band of twelve men will be foolish enough to want to take on them. but i think there will be more brawl situations i think which is not bad thing in my opinion. fights can take place amoung citizens sometimes, cant they. currently, we cant have a small fight withput seriously injuring someone with a weapon.... people only hit other people to kill them. hits with barefists can be used to show someone how angry you are and with some damage too, and you might end up hitting a person more severly than you intended to which is again, more toward reallity.

And realistically, if a group of 12 guys tries to beat up an unarmed person, they could fairly easily kill that person.

Yes. Frankly, if you have the ability to get twelve people to work in unison like that, you're either CRBing or you should bide your time and arm yourselve all with bone spears and shields, because by cantr standards, that's an army and it should be capable of causing a ruckus. A mob of peasants with fists should be a threat to a lone guard or two.

yup, thats true, thats how it should be.... twelve people should get a fairly armed guard easily.... after all, even cantrians have only two hands and legs..

Haha! By the time you "bidded your time" six of them would have dropped dead, three of them would be asleep and the other three would have fallen in love and gotten married.

My point exactly, Kinyova. It's damned hard to get 12 people in cantr to do much of anything together. So don't worry about the possibility of getting killed by critical hits from fists. It's not going to happen.

I beg to differ. 12 unarmed men cannot kill an armed guard with an iron shield.

Those 12 people would have to be good with ther fists to kill that guard. At the moment it would take 3 days to kill the one guard if he has no shield. That s also if the mob is good at fighting ... 4 damage a hit... 3 days is a long time. I couldnt even think of how long it would take to kill that guard if he had a shield.

Also, what if the guard has a weapon and healing food? that mob will drop dead so fast..so very fast.

Okay, A guard would obviously not be able to be killed by 12 unarmed people. And no one has said that. An unnarmed man could certainly be killed, but not one with a shield.

Because as AoM said, a critical with bare hands would only be about 10, and anyone who has any skill with a shield would be able to block that.

You guys just need to pay attention!

You are right, however, punches seem to have a disturbingly high chance of passing through a shield, so a person with a shield is not absolutly safe from a punch, which in effect grants you the critical system you are looking for because some blows are blocked at least partially by shields, while other blows (with different frequencies depending on the weapon) pass through the shield dealing often massive amounts of damage (a shot for 50 or 60 damage through a shield is a setback for anyone).

I disagree. 12 or more people should be able to beat an armed man with a shield no matter how good he can block or fight. The advantage is numbers. 12 people could easily grab the man, disarm him, and beat him to death. Now the man might be able to seriously injure or even kill maybe two or three of them before they would get him down. But in the end that man would be dead.

Give me a good sturdy bow, with a quiver of arrow, a sword and a strong shield. Start with 12 unarmed and armored people at 100 yards, and they would all be dead with nary a scratch on the armed person. Either that or a few would be dead, and the rest fleeing which is a far more likely option because people tend to loose their aggressivness when chances are high that they will die.

As much as the mob can help the weak, can clusters not help those who are armed?

I feel like people are getting too complicated for their own good here.

First off: A bow and a claymore work the same in cantr right now... As far as I, a non-programmer, know, there is no accounting for missile weapons and melee weapons. That's a different topic and should be addressed separately.

Secondly, I don't think that the shield-blocking accounts for a critical hit. We don't know for sure that punches have a better shot of bypassing shields. I would hope that the shield blocking, if it's not completely up to chance, should be dependant on the defender's skill, not the attackers.

Thirdly, I think that it should be possible for quantity to overwhelm quality. 12 cantr "peasants" should be able to overwhelm one cantr "knight." And let's assume that neither party can run into a locked building for safety. The system we have should support groups not individuals. Cantr rewards cooperation.
