Cantr advert screenshots

Postby wichita » Sun Jun 12, 2005 2:44 am

I've been trying to think of a way to improve the description of Cantr to prospective players surfing by the website. I remember when I first checked it out, I was intrigued by the concept, but didn't really have an idea of what I was getting into. One thing that I really appreciate when checking out a new game or program is screenshots. I was thinking that this would be very helpful in giving people thinking about signing up for new accounts a chance to get a feel of the game ahead of time.

I was thinking perhaps a few representative shots could be posted in links fro the description page that would be representative of the game:

An events page - to show some conversation (with full punctuation and capitalization), attacks, etc, just to give a feel of the game

A typical inventory page - to show what kind of item descriptions can be expected

A character description page - to show how people can expect to view their character

A buildings and vehicle or location page

Basiaclly I guess any page(s) would be good just to show the world what to expect inside. Maybe it would help cut down on the simply curious people popping in to check it out and quit on day one because it is boring, or not anything like they expected. Maybe it would encourage some peopl to check it out who might not otherwise. Either way I think it would be a significant aid to promote the game further to those who have stumbled across it for the first time.

I think the message you recieve with your id should be updated to explain a few things. Such as the fact that people are rarely logged on at the same time and that a conversation could take a week to complete.

I agree there should be some more description of the dynamics of the game - but not too much - we don;t want to put people off, if it was made really clear what I'd get if I joined Cantr - I probably wouldn't have...

Personally, I liked the review that Agar gave the game, even though he probably wrote it in attempts to make people not join the game. Hold on, I'll edit this post with the quote...

Like games that get your blood pumping? Enjoy stepping into a tavern and buying some food before setting out on a grand and exciting adventure?

Then don't play this game.

You want to not starve? Spend a day, in real life time, digging potatoes out of the ground. Want to get some gear, some simple leather armour and maybe a bow? Forget about it. Go beat up that cow, you'll kill it with your bare fist in about a week and a half, then you can make club out of bone, then make a needle and start sewing yourself a loincloth.

Want some money? There isn't any. Anywhere.

If you want to struggle to wrest your survival from the earth, this is your game. There are no NPCs, no monsters, just other players, some animals, and the dirt. Getting a question answer often takes around 3 days. You might try being a servant or slave to the most arrongant person in your town, it might keep you fed.

Oh, and it's against the rules to know that an axe can cut wood.

That's pretty funny. Especially the part about the axe.

And actually that was what attracted me to sign up. I liked the fact that there were no NPCs, that there was no script, and that it was - hold on....let me find it......Ah, yes...."The game is designed for players who have more on their agenda then just gaming."

I just would have liked to see exactly what I was going to see when I finally got to log on and try it out. Sure it's a boring game. I like boring games. I'm a boring guy.

That was good.

Killing the cow by bare fist in a week time.

Long match and good boxing experience :D
We can introduce this game to Andrew Golota, to learn charisma :P

I was also totally attracted by this phrase, but now my total agenda became CANTR II

I think it is not totaly truu right?

Note: And i totally agree that some scrrenshots should be added to intro page, or by a small link. It is not hard, and shows the type of the game very well, or should i say CANTR instead of game.
