Wooden leg, metal hook, eyepatch etc...

Postby formerly known as hf » Sun Jun 12, 2005 9:58 pm

As an aside to the permanent damage thread how about:

Wooden leg - 500g wood and 50g hide

Eye patch - various materials (I think there's already a cotton one?...)

Hook - 100g iron and 50g wood (and maybe some hide)

(and others that I'm too tired to think of)

To go along with the walking sticks and so on...
- To help people who want to RP a lost limb/permanent damage after being almost killed / spawn defects / industrial accidents etc...

I like it. It has character. Fred Oneleg should have one to match the pic on his advert. :D I kind of miss that note.

So he really has just one leg eh? I've been wondering about it but couldn't react because naturally if someone has only one leg in real life, you'll see it, you don't have to ask.

Depends on what clothing they are wearing...a loin cloth, yes, a pair of pants, no..I know of a few people with prostheses, and you wouldn't know they did, if they didn't tell you... With the quality used today, they are becoming more realistic looking....but I suppose in Cantr...they would be very primative and much more noticeable

We can make a car in cantr?

Why not realistic looking prostheses?

How do you know they're modern cars? They could be cars from the late 1800s, and we didn't have realistic looking ones back then. Even 20 years ago actualy...

Not much in the way of sports cars and vans in the 1800's besides, they have been making very good prosthetic for a very long time. See:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Goetzhand.jpg

Which is a prosthetic hand from the 16th (1508 to be exact) century worn by Götz von Berlichingen. The hand was fully articulated and capable of wielding a sword or lance.

Go for it - my suggestions were only basic - I'd like to see iron/steel prosthetic hands etc...

Cantr does not have the foam or fibreglass that is used to make limbs today, they are no longer (well for the most part) made from wood. It does , however have the rubber used to coat the foam, and the metal needed for the main support, but the sockets used in fitting the stumps of amputees is fibreglass, casting of a stump is needed for good fitting, this is done with plaster paris and gause (like a real cast) or a quick setting gel...soooo I would see limbs being made from woods and metals, thus a bit more obvious, and without the proper fitting tools, someone walking with one in Cantr, I suppose, would cause an un-natural gait.

I still think it'd be cool.of course then there will be those crazy old sea captains with no legs and the such blasting off about the deep blue (captain hobbes in his older years perhaps?)
