I just didn't like the vastness of it. In the original three the film was focused on a small group of rebels taking on a galactic empire, far more intrigued with character. These latest three were trying to juglle ten things at nce and totaly lost sight of why Star Wars was so big.

And Chewbaca didn't need any history. Han Solo's character was worth more when his wookie freind was just some huge 'walking carpet' (as Leia called him) who he travelled about with.

I also thought the CGI was too much. The thing Obi Wan travelled about on was silly and Yoda looked over the top.

I haven't seen it, and didn't see Clones, either, so I have really enjoyed the spoilers and such.

My favorite review was in a magazine I read this weekend, in which the author blasts Padme for being the worst female action hero ever. Paraphrased comment about why Padme dies: "If women died whenever they lost the will to live, you'd be sweeping them out of the dressing rooms at TJ Maxx on an hourly basis during swimsuit season. For reference: women do die of insufficient and poorly funded medical care and crappy HMOs which force you to see a second-rate droid doctor...."

Sing it, sistah!

Well she isn't in a single action sequence, that I recall, in this film. So it's a tad unfair.

I don't think the acting was too bad to be honest. Especialy considering the dialogue they had to work with.

But if you compare her to her role in Episode I, she has really become a simpering idiot whose sole actions in the entire movie are to get pregnant and die. Way to be a role model, Padme.

I have no comment on the acting, as I haven't seen the movie.

I wasn't disappointed.
Heck, I was amazed they could fit so much of what happened between episode 2 and 4.

I was a pretty big star wars fan, and I actually enjoyed III. The storyline was a little rushed, in terms of everything that happened to bring II in line with IV, but I think it worked, although it didn't wuite keep the tension that fast changes like that would need.

From another angle though, I loved the stylistic transition from the first two movies to the style of the original three. Especially the pseudo-TIE fighters and X-wings, and star destroyers. And I grinned so much at the last sequence - with the controls and style of the bridge as Vader and Palpatine stood their - with the blocky set and the large consoles... I thought that part was done quite well... And a gift to all the SW starfighter/ship geeks in the world...

One funny thing is the huge buttons that Darth Vader has on his costume.

The "light switch" model buttons...what are they for in this high tec world? Can you reach out and flip the red one off, shutting down the allready poorly functioning breathing system in the suit, or is it perhaps the general power switch? Or is it more diabolical...leaving the buttons without a function, tempting enemies to spend time and focus trying to switch them just to find that they are the victims of an elaborate trap?

Anyone got the answer?

I sort of know what the buttons could be for. In one of the many Science of/ technology of books it has them as communications buttons and one is an emergancy release for the helmet.
