Well I just got done reading War of the Worlds since the movie looked like it might be good. I must say after reading the book the movie might be better. The whole time I was reading it all I could think about was how good of a movie this would make, but in a book... It's just horrible. These is a bunch of action, not a lot of character development or symbolic meaning. Basically I just expected more. I am now stuch between wanting to read The Things They Carried or The Sound and the Fury. I must say I'm leaning towards The Sound and the Fury.

I though 'The things they carried' was pretty good. Maybe a little mono-thematic/styled, but i thought it worked.

Jane Austen uses words and language perfectly: every word is exactly fitting and descriptive. I am envious.

Bravo! My favorite novel of all time, I think.. at least 19th century novel... And Austen is my favorite 19th century novelist.. :P I've read Pride and Prejudice a bazillion times over and think the A&E short series was done delightfully well.

Currently reading: Nothing, as I haven't had time to in a longggg time..

I used to read a book a day in the summers... curse college and work now!

Last thing I read was probably... ehmm... *tries to remember* Not really sure... Planning on picking up a good book soon!

Oh, yea.. probably will re-read the HP series before the 6th book comes out... or something... :? going through withdrawals here...

I just finished Pompeii by Robert Harris. I wasn't going to read it because I thought it would be cheezy but then I did and I loved it - but I'm a total sucker for disaster/survival books and movies.

Anyway, it's got a lot of fascinating life in the Roman Empire year 79 stuff but mostly the scientific observations of the events leading up to the eruption from the perspective of an aquaduct engineer.

Fun and fascinating and easy to read on the bus. Now I'm starting Mona Lisa Overdrive.

Currently I'm trying to finish up the Minotaur Wars Trilogy in the DragonLance Saga. I'm waiting to get my hands on the Serenity novilization and also crossing my fingers and toes that my favorite authors Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman either come out with more DragonLance books or get a deal to write some Firefly/Serenity books.

I am also reading Finding Serenity. Some great reading in there.

I want to read the Left Behind series as I've heard they are great too but haven't picked them up. I have a lot of back reading in DragonLance and other books I have bought that are collecting dust on my shelves.

I am also really into Astonishing X-Men. Whedon and Cassaday have signed on for another year. The best X-Men run in a long time and I'm definitely getting the Serenity comics when they come out.

Speaking about Martin's work, I just read on his website that he finished A feast for crows. Yay! Only took him 4 years... I really hope it was worth the wait
