That is indeed a problem, so I suppose babies being spawned is a possibility. If you're lucky you'll get adopted, if not you'll be a child growing up in the streets. Ofcourse, this would mean a lot of children are going to grow up in the streets.
schme wrote:And what if people reproduce faster than their are characters coming to be? What then?
Then it will simply be harder to get pregnant. You'll have to try several times before you get pregnant.
Nevertheless, implementing babies will be tough....

*Shudders* Ouchie!

I was thinking that.
Although, I should think that in a world so small as Cantr, with so few people, the community could probably just help whoever was giving birth, rather than a proffesional.
Although, It would be cool to have a character who was a stranger come into a town and give birth to a baby soon after, or something.
And then people could hunt down their damn rolling stone fathers......

If its going to be done, It should be like any other project. You start it, the other person(s) could then join in if they wanted to.
Imagine, starting the project with your SO, then checking back a bit later and finding 5 people have joined your project. That would be an interesting situation to role play.
This would also prevent people from being raped as they would have to put themselves on the project in the first place. If you want to make sure others don't join, get a room, preferably one with a lock.[/i]

Quit bashing my suggestion! People are already doing it commonly, it's totally irrealistic you can't see it. A simple description like that doesn't hurt anybody, unlike people expressing the situation through public *description* when someone comes in and they want to be realistic. I bet every player in Cantr is old enough to know at least on a primitive level what sex is. It's not a dirty thing, it's not limited to intercourse and I'm pretty sure that characters who have intimate activities regularly are less likely to die of the sleeping sickness than those who wont. (Do I need to start a poll about this?) If the word sex is such a plague to some people, sure it can be replaced by something more politically correct...
Did you even read my suggestion? (Hold on, I'll edit this in a bit, I'll just go get the quotes.)
EDIT:
It would also be an interesting situation to roleplay if the five people requested to join in but if following my original suggestion, they couldn't do it forcefully. But, those five people could start their own project in the same room, if the starter of the project is there to accept their requests.
Not all people can have access to locks. So you would be putting yourself to a risk of getting raped every time you would have sex in an unprotected place? It's not like that in real life! If there is already two people having sex, an extra person sneaking upon them would most likely be easily defeated if these two people don't like the interference. And even if someone is ready to have sex with a person they know, that doesn't mean they would be necessarily ready to rp being raped, especially if it doesn't even include roleplaying at all, only some stupid newspawn trying to click the join button.
The newspawns (and other annoying characters) could by all means start a project on their own, but could not start a project with another person, because it requires the other person joining in of the player's own free will. Do you see a programmed message requesting an outsider to join your project? No. That could be only done by saying it or rp'ing it. Even if you were in a project, a disturbing person could only bother you with requests, but couldn't engage in the project without your permission.
Nah, if it really WAS obvious and not left to guessing, then people would be more likely NOT to try it on public places, ne? Because you'd have a chance of getting caught even if you don't accidentally post your line in public.
And, many times you think you're in a place no one goes to, for example in a distant location with no population and you think, well, a perfect chance to get close to the travelling companion so why not? But then someone walks out of a building or arrives from a road just as you were in the middle of it. Or if you don't have a lock and are in the shelter of a building, thinking why would anyone bother to come in, and then someone does anyway.
And one more thing: At the moment this topic is not about making babies!!! Only about people trying to make each other feel pleasure.

One problem though is if someone is already doing it then technically joining in without their permission might be possible. Maybe an attempt to join would give the starter a message: A man in his twenties is trying to join project Having sex. Accept?

This could replace the current spawning system probably.
But what if you change the sex to spawning?
It's not even known if cantr have genitals.
And it's not a prequiste for a cantr male and female to be at a place to have a chance to spawn there.
It could also be with two male's or 2 female's
I do love you post seko.

*cracks his fingers*
If you start a suggestion involving sex, you can expect bashing.
Hurray for the people who don't. Let us not bring someone else to ideas.
Seko, do you realize how much your statement is culturally bound? It depends on in which culture you grew up how you look at sex. I'm Dutch, everything is allowed here, so I have barely any problems with talking about and dealing with sex.
Dee over there for instance was raised in Egypt (if I'm not mistaking). People there are more conservative over there. Talking about sex is more or less not-done (hence her short, unargumented statement), what you suppose can be considered offensive (therefore it hurts, not physically, but emotionaly). People like Dee might consider sex as being a dirty thing.
Those people should not play Cantr anyway. They should be visiting 18+ chatboards or something.
Perhaps. Although the polls in here are not quite representative.
It would help a little, but not enough. It's still sex and in some cultures sex, or whatever you name it, is tabu.
There are other ways of getting pleasure. Sex has no use in Cantr as can be read in my post on behaviour.
Seko, please keep in mind that we're not all Europeans in here. There are also people from North-America, South-America, Africa, the Middle-East the Far East, Russia, etcetera in here. They have different views on the world. You don't need to adopt them, but it would be nice if you understood them.
Dee, I have used you as an example for someone non-European having non-European standards. I hope I was right when projecting your mind and cultural background. If not, my apologies.
